Our closest phylogenetic/evolutionary cousins, the chimpanzee (Pan troglodyte) have extensively demonstrated complex behaviours which very much run in parallel with our own: They create and use tools, start wars, practice ritualistic behaviour, practice prostitution, and cannibalise the children of their enemies. Chimpanzees have their own cultures, language and societies as dynamic as our own. With behaviours as complex as these, it would not be a surprise that there is some form of politics being practiced among them.
By understanding the behaviour of chimpanzees we can draw parallels and gain insight into our own and apply that knowledge to improve ourselves and humanity. Instead of oil or money, they fight for tasty and nutritious fruit. Instead of shooting each other with guns, they just bite and tear their enemies apart with their bare hands... One could argue that chimpanzees are more honest with their intentions.
What kind of politics do you think chimps practice? What human political ideologies would closely match with that of chimps? Do they believe in the left/right political spectrum? Are they perhaps radical centrists? There are plenty of questions which can be asked.
