So we decided to do a melody vote instead of having an option to choose from. Someone recommended we do this so we did. Here are the three melodies. Choose which one you would like to be in the 2019 NGRMC competition. Remember that ANYONE can vote! Even if you're not participating or don't compose music!

THE DEADLINE IS JULY 25

My personal favourite is the first one (easy listening), since it is the closest to what I love to compose and produce. It has potential and I may already have some ideas in mind lol

Every decision you've ever made up until now (no matter how small) has potentially saved your life by keeping you from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I assume you're saying that this is the voting deadline for picking one of the three themes, not the actual contest deadline. Will the contest period begin on July 25th? How long will participants have to make their tracks?

Anyway, I went ahead and voted for my fave. Gotta say, I agree with AlbeGian; the Easy Listening option has a lot of potential.

Damn the awkwardness of forum posts! This was all supposed to be in one. Sorry for double-posting. ):

I also voted for the first one.

If you're having a melody, you'd like one that can be modified cross-genre to allow anyone and everyone to participate. Hence my motivation for voting the first one; it's simple enough to be applied anywhere (even in EDM for everyone who composes in that style).

We're working on it right now. It will start shortly after July 25.

I would suggest waiting a little bit. The two biggest competitions, NGADM and NGUAC, would both be actually going around that time, and with both of those going on it may be hard to draw turnout for the competition (especially considering some people, like me, are involved in both in some way). NGUAC should end around August 30 (judging and all), so around there would be a good time to start, or you could do it sometime after the final round of NGUAC starts on August 12.

hi, I do things that make sounds and put them on this site, you can check out my stuff if you want.

You would have until mid September to work on your submission for NGRMC.

I think it'll be okay from this point forward, as it will give participants who don't make it into subsequent rounds of either competition to have a chance at this one. We could coordinate timing so that people have a chance at all competitions.

I did vote, but I must say that I don't really like any of them, last year melody was simple so it was up to us producers to create a story for that melody... This year I don't see it possible to really come creative to this competition

I can't speak for you, but perhaps try derive some ideas from those who already have brainwaves from any one of these melodies.

Honestly, I feel like the two of them are right. Personally I voted for the first one because it was in my opinion the most interesting one for us to use, the 2 other (specially the last) seem kinda hard to produce with.

So yeah, just as an advice for the next year, you should try to make simple melodies instead of spending time doing one for different genre, maybe you could even ask some contestants if they want to submit a melody

Well, you still spent time making them, so thank you :)

definitley melody no. 1. the multiple moving parts (chords, piano melody, high part) give people alot of room to get creative and experiment

On the technical side, I would suggest converting the parts into midi so people can look at the melody.

That's what they did last year, I'm sure it'll be the same this year.

I want to ask ahead of time, is changing the actual time signature of the melody allowed?

Hype. I could do something with three. I'm down for that :)

My favourite is also the house one but in my opinion it will be harder to remix unless you are also doing the house genre, so for the sake of people who can't do house i'm voting the first melody, easier to remix out of all of them and i think you will be able to see everybody's creativity :)

Listen to me on Spotify! DM for commissions, I can make beats and backing tracks for you to rap and sing to!
