Questions about the monetary system

Why is it that you must be 18+ to apply for the monetary system? Other sites I use like Ditto and Soundcloud have the monetary system for my age. Why do they allow it, but not Newgrounds, or am I missing something? Does it have to do anything with laws in certain countries?

If I am 16 and live in the US is there some way to bypass this?

Pretty simple. It was decided a majority of the world doesn't consider minors responsible enough to handle money. Too dumb, too risky, too much liability and criminal investigations and lawsuits purely for needing to deal with it when something goes wrong that isn't that company's fault. Nobody really feels like arguing over why persons below the age of . . . well . . . there's the problem. Nobody will agree about the age someone is responsible for the things they do with the money they make or use.

Yes, Ditto's HQ is in the UK, Soundcloud's HQ is in Germany, Newgrounds' HQ is in the USA, Pennsylvania. Laws are different in different places. Everyone is responsible for themselves. Nothing is gonna change just because something flies in one landmass, and the other makes sure a site whose HQ is within the boundary of those laws gets shut down to protect minors/uphold the law they've set. Could've sworn it was already established that the U.S' is overbearingly strict, the E.U's is borderline, criminally relaxed, and Asia's is non-existent. Hell, Ditto and Soundcloud are entirely music based platforms while Newgrounds is a social media. I don't see Ditto and Soundcloud getting shut down due to child-porn anytime soon. Or encouraging minors to invest in their futures by buying crates, memberships, or merchandise.

Yeah, you get a parent to apply for you under their name. Or anyone above the age not considered to be a minor in that country or state. As long as they have their name out there, they're responsible for whatever you do and can be held liable for any child exploitation that can be found. Or just stop saying you're under the age of 18. Nobody really checks that shit dude. Not unless they need to report payment history to some credit union to properly . . . place . . . taxes . . . on the . . . people they pay . . .

tldr laws are fucking complicated. Rule the planet with an iron fist and you can tell people what to do. People are too fucking hard-headed to sit down and come up with something consistent. (Except that child pornography is bad, literally the only thing everyone can agree on. Except a fucking pedophile. Drawn lolis and shotas are fine though just not here, wherever the fuck that is.)

Hmm

Yeah thanks, that pretty much summed it up. I can see why they would not allow it for users under 16 because kids at my school don’t know how to use it. Especially the “rappers”. They spend it on jewelry, chains, watches, and I would just like some to buy some more fl plugins and stuff like that. And yeah I guess Ditto and SC are only for music so it makes sense, but good to know that I could possibly use my parent’s PayPal. Thanks👍
