WELCOME TO THE TWENTY-FIFTH OFFICIAL NAC!
The NAC Team and @TomFulp is pleased to bring you January's theme: Honouring the Greats!
Honouring the Greats? But what does that mean Chron?
Well, here is how it works:
For those of you that are not aware, the audio portal was created february 13th, 2003. This was a pivotal year for many people who became huge sensations to make a giant lasting footprint on the audio portal. Those who come first always have a bit of an advantage, as those who come after tend to look up to them. They also have the most voting power and the most props and clout.
It has now been 16 years since the audio portal began. These NAC contests have been requested to be revived upon popular demand by those very same original users, and so to honour all the originals, I have decided to make the first months contest to honour them. The NACs ran every month from january 2011 to December 2012. You can see the previous NAC winners HERE. You will basically be remixing what you feel is the best song (or the one you like the best) from one of the newgrounds "original" users - users who were pillars of the audio charts - users who signed up between 1999 and 2003. This will both honour those users and allow new users to connect to the "roots" of the audio portal.
So this one is going to be a bit tricky to keep track of, but we will try regardless. I will list ALL the users that I am aware of from 2003 who made a huge contribution to the audio portal below. You can choose any of their music to remix, and you will then post the user, and the song you chose, in the comments below. Once that artists name has been posted in the comments below THEY CANNOT BE CHOSEN AGAIN. Only one from each user will be considered. Then you will post again in this thread your song link when your song is done.
(2004 users sorry I realize you guys contributed a lot too but to keep the list of users somewhat manageable we limited it just to 2003 users. I stuck with the biggest names who still have a lasting impression on the site.)
So say someone posts below they are remixing "paragon - chaoz devotion" - we then strike paragonx9's name off the list and nobody else can remix any paragonx9 songs, and they would only have 39 artists left to choose from. You have 40 artists to choose from which means there is a max of 40 users who can participate in this contest.
Covers and Remixes
Allowed for this contest. You may cover the song or remix it, as long as you improve it in some way. You will be judged on how much you do the song justice through homage or improvement, not on the quality of the original song.
Not mandatory. Just make sure they conform to these guidelines:
1) They are not sampled from copyrighted recordings.
2) They are 100% your own recording and creation (or someone who has given you permission)
3) You can ask another artist or group to provide vocals, as long as all material is newly created for your submission, and you provide the details of the vocalist(s), who they are.
Instruments & Collabbing
Recordings of instruments are great! If you do kudos to you! Recording of vocals is super great too. As a result if someone assists you with vocals you may include them as part of your song - just make sure to mention them in your song description. The prize however will only go to the user that submitted the song.
All tracks must be in by the deadline. Please check your Newgrounds in-boxes regularly. If you have a problem with reaching the deadlines, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will review your case.
Submissions must not contain any material deemed offensive.
AND NO SUBMITTING MUSIC THAT WASN'T MADE DURING THE MONTH OF THE CONTEST!
and if I missed any rule and you are unsure - please look through previous month's NAC threads - all rules have been listed at some point or other, or in the nac discussion thread. I don't have to answer your questions as all has been addressed at some point or other. Use some initiative!
Last but not least, remember to have fun! Don't get too competitive and/or elitist, or I may have to bash some heads! :P
