I dunno, does it seem a little strange to see movies that are barely a minute long winning portal awards? I mean, I can commend the efforts backed into these loops but if it seems effortless to win 1st place, doesn't it defeat the purpose of actually working to earn those awards?
It just seems a bit unprecedented in all my time in NG, or am I missing something?
If what's allowed on NG becomes too narrow it will eventually kill off the site.
If it got that high it probably done something right, and I'm a man who appreciated quality over quantity.
Occasionally trash hits front page because it's artsie/relatable/pseudodeep or just because the creator is popular, even if they are completely devoid of talent. As long as they aren't exploitative it's crucial to keep them on to allow variety on the site to flourish and to keep the competition fair.
Either way if somebody were to flood the site with those than people would stop letting em through judgement.
In the end people don't care about the format as long as it's entertaining. That's why pretty much all storytime animators get shut down from being on the site while david razi is getting 4.5s on every video.
In the end calling it effortless is cheap, because while it ain't long it's still of very high quality, If something was short but of bad quality it wouldn't pass through or get that far.
