Hey guys 1f1n1ty is here!

Sorry for the confusion, NG didn't let me make a second BBS thread in time to paste the link into the first. KaixoMusic just happened to be online so I asked him to step in.

Anyway discussion!

hey man, you uh you got something on your face right there, lemme just... ok, there we go, MUCH better, you are looking GOOD AS NEW

Very tempted to enter, although I'll likely try something in the later half of them month since I'll have the vast majority of my time booked off of work then. Got a few bingo card combo's I'm happy to do.

Looks super interesting, I love the concept! :) I've got a bit too much going on at the moment to be able to participate, but to those that enter, good luck and have fun.

Very much looking forward to hearing the entries!

Also, glad to see that "cello" is a bingo spot. Caesura was also a clever one.

Looks really neat! I'm gonna enter into this and I wish early good luck to all the other participants. Hopefully my secret recipient of my secret CHIPS santa gift won't mind if the thing I give them is a little under par... :p

One question, though: do diagonals count as lines we can do?

hi, I do things that make sounds and put them on this site.

Yes! You'll see on the bingo board there are labels on the sides:

R1
R2
R3
R4
R5
C1
C2
C3
C4
C5
D1
D2

These are the twelve options you have :)

Oh ok, didn't see the labels there the first time I saw the board lol. Thanks :D

If I can finish a track in time I'll have to include a few random bingo squares. I just can't ignore that non 4/4.

Good job on organizing the contest based on my tips, though I feel a few or so rules are unneccesary because NG rules cover them, and it would save you time to say "original song" near the beginning rather than the rule saying "It must be a song not a voice track", sort of pointless. Then again, it took me years before AIM became what it is now.

So, for a start, this is pretty good. :) A bit wordy, but so was AIM in earlier years, still sort of is. Glad to see you could get good people on board for this. I wish you well, and though I don't have time to enter, I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I'm posting this here cause the song's not my official submission. It's a failed attempt at checking all the items on the list in one track and more like an example of how not to make your submission. ;p I made it in less than 3 hours.

Here's my board:

Actually this is really nice :3 tbh when you said this I was expecting some kind of like demo-reel-type one-bingo-square-every-3-seconds kind of deal and that's not what you did

you could have had caesura at 0:48

Excited to hear what you'll come up with in a re-do!

Righto, I'm on my way with my song. I'll be done soon and able to upload it.

As a note, for mine, it'll seem weird. I ACTUALLY wrote the song in 3/4 time. BUT!!! the drum beat is a 4/4 beat for the most part. I've gone for the first column, and a song in non 4/4 was in that bingo list. Does it count as a non 4/4 song if the beat is 4/4 but the song is written in 3/4?

I'll probably have to listen to it myself and see. Are you sure it's not just 6/8? Either way you'll get credit for completing the non-4/4 square if there's evidence that you tried, even if it doesn't feel like non-4/4.

just so its clear is the rule for the contest that we have to choose at least one bingo line to follow for our contest entry?

Yes! Your entry has to show a clear attempt at completing at least one bingo line.

I love doing stuff like this! Although, I did think I was allowed to fill the whole board, but that would be a bit overkill.

I'm sorry, I consider myself decently well versed in music theory, but I've never heard of the term "5-voice chord", and I can't find any info online. Is this just a chords comprised of 5 tones? If someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it

Response to NGAP BINGO CONTEST 2018 Discussion 2018-12-04 12:30:43

i know that there aren't really a limit for the length of submission.
but uhh... can you specify what is "too short" and "too long"?

(my good guess is from 1 to 6 mins)

i make music and occasionally draws (not posting on ng)

I'm speaking for myself here. I think 2.5 to 7 minutes is reasonable if you want the numbers, but I wouldn't necessarily remove points based on length. It's possible for a song shorter than 2.5 minutes to sound developed and complete, and it's possible for a really long song to contain enough variation, development, and be of high enough quality to be stimulating for its entire duration.

I think it means a chord with 5 different tones, but I can't be sure either.

Also I see I decided to actually be active on here in a good moment, this is a perfect excuse to get back into music making, there are already some bingos I see I could be making :3c

Yep! That's basically what I was meaning when I wrote that square.

No need to be sorry! If anything it's my fault that it's not clearer :)
