there is also the possibility of an artist choosing not to wanna join the site but us commissioners still wanting to post our commissions in order to be able to show art from that artist to a wider audience.
I hope this will be taking as fair criticism rather then me being petty but it looks like at least I as a commissioner will have to keep looking for a better alternative on where to migrate to.

This is all good to know and we'll be thinking about situations where the commissioner wants to share it but the artist doesn't have an account, we could treat it like when content has an audio credit that isn't on the site.

For games and movies we use the term "Sponsor", would that sound like a good credit type for the person who funded the piece, or is "Commissioner" or "Commissioned by" preferred?

It's too bad that Tumblr had to lose NSFW artists due to some bot that's supposed to eliminate disgusting content coming from sick minded people. And even worse - losing artists in general. But thanks to Newgrounds, artists of all ages and NSFW artists finally found a new home. Maybe YouTubers will move in here as well if YouTube did something similar that may harm content creators.

Bless this beautiful website.

Eh...Lewd and arousing aspects of drawings might differ from person to person. I'd like to ask as one of those who was purged from Tumblr - how far is it possible to safely push boundaries of degeneracy exactly? Can I host here some neutering, CBT, amputee drawings at most? Or I should just limit myself with themes and fetishes that considered to be traditionally acceptable on this site?

"commissioned by" would probably be the best wording of it.
took some time and think about it and something I came up with is that maybe when posting art someone could have an extra field to fill in where you can insert the name of an artist and a commissioner.

NewGrounds has always been happy to support artists, animators, and reviewers.

I do have a small feature request to bring NG up to parity with Tumblr - could you implement RSS feeds for art as well? Right now you support RSS for Flash (and Audio I think), but there's no equivalent for the Art category that I can see.

That could be a great addition.

Another RSS fix you could do at the same time would be to include appropriate <link /> tags in the HTML HEAD block so feed readers can pick up on them automatically. AFAIK that also gives you a bit extra Google link juice too so it'd be good for the site as a whole.

Another good idea. Keep them coming.

Feel free to express yourself here on NewGrounds.

While I have not lost my Tumblr accounts (phew!) I am happy to find new communities to be in.

limit yourself with themes and fetishes that are considered to be traditionally acceptable on this site. Children come here. This isn't rotton.com.

lol I don't think children are supposed to look at adult-only material, regardless of the fetishes involved. And if they are anyway, how can one say threesomes are more morally acceptable than hardcore bdsm, for example?

you were asking about neutering and amputees - thats not bdsm - thats just gore.

Maybe just focus on good art instead of seeing what fine line you can push the most and get away with.

And of course they aren't supposed to - but it doesn't mean they won't, or lie about their age. It happens on newgrounds all the time.

Pushing the boundaries and provoking is something artists do all the time, whether there's naked butts involved or not. Having a game where enemies explode in gory parts with xray vision of the bullets wrecking their insides is badass, but if they're naked it's foul? Anyway the art posting guideline basically say "no kiddy porn or photography" so, if the stuff is tagged/flagged properly I don't see the issue, unless there's a shadow moral comity I'm not yet aware of.

If left without any standards most art just degenerates to weird abstractness, porn and gore. There should be standards. Look at the high ranking classics in the art portal - strive to those standards, as they are pretty good ones.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_Devouring_His_Son

I didn't post the art pieces directly out of respect and also they're huge. But yeah. classical. pretty good. Also baby eating.

that's based off mythology - children getting raped by tentacle monsters however for example is just based off a demented mind haha.. hence why no child porn.

Use common sense. Is it art, or is it just gore? That is the age old question many of us have. Where do the standards lie. Is it meant to tell a story, as in saturn devouring his son, or is it just meant to provoke a negative reaction in people, as most gore is? And then is it being appreciated for art, or just kinda being done to disturb people because you can?

The problem is the timescale. I'm pretty sure those classic pieces turned some stomach in their times, and there's thousand years worth of artists being shunned as provocateurs and agitateurs, and their work only being appreciated long after their death. There's always people trying to censor art, and artists are always looking for a place where they can just share whatever they want with their peers without persecution.

I don't like scat content, I will never like scat content, and never want to see it, but I will never report an artist or try to have their work taken down just because I don't like it. As long as they flag/tag their stuff properly, It's fair game.

I see now. Everything should be squeaky clean/conventionally attractive, got it. I guess that's ok with the fact that there's no way of separating scary stuff from everything else in search results it seems.

Okay, so seems like, since this website is still not adult content oriented, if you draw anything but pretty much mainstream vanilla stuff, you have problems. Tumblr refugees still have to cling to tumblr. That's frustrating.

That’s bull crap! Newgrounds has tons of adult rated content, and most of us are fine with it. No one is saying that you need to have squeaky clean content to be apart of it.

Newgrounds hosts plenty of adult oriented content, but it's not a porn site. I'm sure there are plenty of other sites out there that host the sort of content you're willing to look at and produce. Newgrounds is Newgrounds, it's not going to become the next Tumblr

My problem is not that I'm expecting Newgrounds to be a porn site, I'm not a porn artist to begin with. The thing is question is, I'm looking for a place which can bear the inconsistency of my artworks - cuz I might draw both sfw pictures and occasional nsfw stuff, be it a sketch or a finished piece, fluffy soft porn or eroguro. So far I only know two websites at least partially able to endure this kind of crap. And judging by what I see in this thread, I can't count on publishing all of my artworks here since Newgrounds kinda accepts adult content, but not quite all of it because of kids looking at such content and random watcher's morality or tastes differing from mine. I mean, it was literally mentioned about "acceptable fetishes" and gore being rather questionable. In this case, a drawing with a naked gal with her arms chopped off is most likely to be reported because of some additional rules. Welp.
I'm neither criticizing nor asking to rewrite the existing, actually written rules here, but I simply feel disappointed my NG gallery is more likely to turn into another clean page and I was way too quick and excited to get here instead of digging a little deeper into the whole acceptability stuff.
