This Friday, @TheWeebl will be releasing a new episode of Space James, kicking off NG in Space! We'll be introducing a themed site skin by @LemKuuja and in the following weeks you'll be treated to new episodes of Captain Tardigrade and Starbarians. If anyone else wants to release space-themed stuff during this time, you're welcome to join the party!

NG is also hosting a Construct 3 Game Jam with the theme, "You are not the main character." If you're a Construct 3 dev or someone interested in getting into game development, join this Jam!

Side note, if you know anyone who is making games that can be exported as HTML5 (Construct 2/3, Game Maker, Unity), please encourage them to share their games on NG! Even now a lot of developers still think NG only hosts Flash games but we've been accepting HTML5 uploads since 2012. Even if you're just making small jam games, we love featuring cool stuff.

Like playing games but not making them? Maybe you'd like our Pit People Art Contest!

Another thing to look forward to: The NG Dragonball Z Collab. It's gonna be a treat! A handful of artists are finishing up their pieces and release is expected in early April, after NG in Space wraps.

Until then, here is your Best of February!

The voter of the month and winner of honorary Supporter status is @Wizard-Lock!

Thank you everyone who participated in February! Newgrounds is nothing without the people who share their work and their feedback.

Supporter Update

On Feb 24th we kicked off a Supporter Drive with an intentionally obnoxious "Sad Tom" banner that ended up sticking around for 18 days. We gained a lot of new supporters, though, so thank you!!!

We've returned to the traditional banners and would love your support. It's just $2.99 per month or $24.99 for the year, you get great perks and NG gets more resources to build a better future for on-line entertainment. Every person counts in this effort!

Final Note

The world lost a gem today with the passing of Stephen Hawking at 76 years old. He faced such insane odds yet made great contributions to science with just his MIND! Never forget how powerful that thing between your ears is.

Best of February 2018!

Some pretty great stuff this month, and great things coming soon! Congrats to the winners!

And RIP Hawking. He was an inspiration indeed.

As much as I enjoy parodies, our voters consistently place too much emphasis upon them every month for these Best of threads. It's a little disappointing.

Any particular tags we need to add to space themed submissions?

Good question... Could just go with "space" as the tag, that would do the trick well enough I think!

Parodies are easy to understand, because they are based off something well known. It can be harder to get something brand new.

For years, my Twitter headline has been "People often tell me that I look like Slash or Howard Stern, but sound like Stephen Hawking." That was in fact true. Not too long ago, I had to add a "(Rest In Power)" after that.

The news ruined my night last night. He zealously outperformed countless able-bodied people with his physics research and made everyone envious with his firsthand experiences with weightlessness. There was no better role model or advocate for people with disabilities than him. A lot of people high up in the academic world make predictions about the future, but there are few I ever listened to, yet I always listened to him because I trusted his foresight. The way he used his brain most likely played a big role in him having lived as long as he did with ALS. The secret to prolonging your life is knowledge, which is power, and I hope he's resting in it.

I tend to agree with you, which is why when I vote I try to give original works higher spots than parodies.

The Originals are always better than the remakes or parodies. You have to give than higher scores and treat them with respect.

but as some dork said, "a good parody is funny without you knowing the original source material"

Most other lists which i generally disagree with have to do with games, shows and so on... as for making my own lists i did have an old top 10 vid but that got taken down rather quickly.
