After studying and looking after some of antique art I`ve realized this challenge will be really difficult

So I think I want to recreate this with captain america and the howling commandos, but I'd like some advice. Should I try to draw it in the style on the urn or just draw the characters in those poses? Thanks :)

Thats the one I was going to use, but its not 150+ years ago. I asked on Twitter about it...But he hasn't responded I'd ask there as well maybe he'd answer you. It is counted as classical but its not far enough back.

My WIP. I'm recreating https://www.rembrandthuis.nl/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/400x303xRembrandt-Anatomy-Lesson-Dr.-Tulp-1024x775.jpeg.pagespeed.ic.IJhIthJuUN.jpg

I'm actually a medical student myself so finding this really quite amusing.
I've returned to traditional media for this one.

Would love feedback :D

This is my post explaining why your submission was removed. Again, the idea is ok, but you must create everything yourself. https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1429609/2#bbspost26148279_post_text

I will take a still life and manipulate it to show things that are cool to eat now like laundry detergent. I have not decided which one I will take yet since my favorites are not quite 150 years old but it will probably be from Louise Moillon. The WIP will be uploaded as soon as I got further than a rudamentary sketch.

I've just been throwing ideas at the wall and this is my favourite thus far. I might add a couple more things, and then I gotta make my sketch and start painting!

I’m already past the point of no return I’m gonna hope Jazza isn’t that strict.

Starting today, i decided to pick The sacrifice of Isaac by Caravaggio, a Baroque painting from around 1610 if i`m not mistaken. Using a lot of references to incorporate the "hip hop", "gucci gang", "sad boys" style to the piece. I`ll really tryhard on this one!

Good luck! I lost interest now that that 150+ thing was pointed out... :< I'm not even sure what to do now.

This is a sketch of what I plan to do.
Question.
Is this aloud where I made my image larger with the actual painting being a smaller portion of it or does my pimped version has to be the same size as the original painting?
Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Here's my WIP so far I redrew my sketch digitally. It's based on the painting of Ophelia by John Everett Mililas in 1852 with some nostalgia from the 80s.

It's beautiful! Did you draw the face yourself or did you copy it? We have to do everything ourselves.

At some point, I questioned myself if this was even considered a classical enough. The original painting: This

And my vision will be... very yellow... Oh well!

Second day of work and I`m still working on lineart

Response to "Pimp My Classic" February COTM! 2018-02-09 15:04:11

OMG I drew everything myself. I know it's illegal to copy an paste especially for a art contest-that wouldn't be right.
I'll include a pic so you can see I drew it myself. Plus it's not that hard to do the face because I have the pic right there as a reference. Just hope the body and everything else turns out pretty.

Response to "Pimp My Classic" February COTM! 2018-02-09 17:24:20

@stelamoris
Well in that case reference or not, you did an amazing job! :D Even with reference I'm not sure I could have pulled that off.
