I updated the Pixel Day prize info over the weekend to include Iconoclasts Steam keys for the top three winners in each category. Iconoclasts has been in development for seven years and will coincidentally be released ON Pixel Day, January 23rd. NG will be celebrating with a special Iconoclasts site skin by creator Joakim ‘konjak ‘ Sandberg!

We’re already one week into 2018 and I’m wrapping up various 2017 odds and ends like 1099 and 1042-S forms for tax season. You know, the fun stuff.

We have one thing to wrap up from 2017 that actually is fun; the Best of December!

Thank you everyone who participated in December, you delivered a strong finish to 2017! Seriously, take a good look back at Newgrounds over the last year and compare it to what was happening on the rest of the Internet.

We’re expecting great things in Q1 2018 with some big site updates and events like Pixel Day, the DBZ Collab and NG in Space. Heck, we already opened the year with Black Crystal, sure to compete with some of the best animations of all time here on NG.

I’m pumped for what is coming and as usual, none of this would be possible without the help of supporters. Please consider becoming one if you aren’t already! Your support goes a long way towards ongoing hosting and development, reducing third party ads and ultimately building a bigger, better rev share system for artists. Looking at top 5 games and having browsed all of nominated games, I have a strong suspicion that the alphabetic order has to do a lot with the games chances to win.

I see a lot of great games didn't even making the Runner-up list because they were on the second side of alphabetic order.

I see a lot of relatively mediocre games on top of the winners list because they were on top of the nominee list sorted alphabetically.

It's very apparent that lot's of people haven't browsed all the nominees and have browsed just the few top games in P-bots alphabetically sorted nominee list and chosen their favorites from the top few games.

Just look at the winners list and see the strong correlation with alphabetic order.

Kudos to World''s End Chapter 3 - it's a really great game having reached 5th place despite this. This game deserves to be in 1st place.

I've always wondered why monthly voting is always in alphabetical order instead of randomised, or some other arbitrary system. It certainly affects the outcome quite strongly, and it seems odd that the monthly rank is treated differently to way the daily and weekly ranks are determined. In any case, you can always put quote marks around your title if you think you'll make the monthly voting and you'll jump to the top... Not that I'd ever try such a dastardly tactic. ^-^;

You can only write off 50% of food but technically yes I have been able to take a deduction on beer before. I could get away with expensing and writing off a lot more meals and beer but I tend to pay with my personal card vs putting things on the NG card. In total NG paid for $273.79 in "meals & entertainment" expenses in 2017.

Seems I've been pretty oblivious to how the Internet's been faring outside of NG overall, but cool to hear we're defying a negative trend!! Moving into a New year and even greater things!

Was so good, forgot what the last scene looked like (thanks Tom). The animation was a AAA production, but the theme kinda missed the mark for me. Individuals aren't the problem, it's the mammoth forces goading them on, that I take issue with.
