I think between Capcom and fangames they've mined that artstyle for all it's worth, so I'm glad they're moving on, but at the same time everytime Capcom emulates the feel of playing the NES games in higher visual fidelity the result always looks and feels sluggish. That's kind of the vibe I got from the trailer, but there's time before the release so hopefully the end result feels good.
