Hello , my name is Adrian and i'm 19 , i'm searching for a drawing partener that wanna have some fun drawing togheter from time to time , i'm a Beginner doing art for 2 years , but i can safely say i'm a slow learner , soo i would like someone who isn't too advanced soo we can be on the same " page " , i myself draw alot of fantasy stuff and also learning to draw humans ( bones , anatomy etc.) i also enjoy painting from time to time ( but i don't wanna force myself to learn them all at once , it will only slow me down ). Thanks for reading so far and have a Great Day.

P.s : sorry if i did any mistakes typing , not a native english speacking person.

Yes you must try basic gesture, its not compulsory to use boxes and complicated perspective if you are a total beginner

keep going, you guys are definately on the right track. Keep trying, failing and succeeding, it doesn't matter, as long as you keep doing basic forms like that, getting better is a matter of time.

Hmm , i'm better at drawing from imagination then refference since i draw mostly imagination , something like 85% imagination 15% refferences , soo i guess i got used to it over time.
Also this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1Yeb5bD4N4 helped.

but drawing from imagination alot is not that good , i myself need to draw alot more from reff. to build a visual portofolio i think it's called.

soo for start just try to do some more imagination

You should avoid drawing from imagination at all costs, drawing from imagination is only good once you've mastered anatomy.
Unless you're trying to make a character or something.

True but drawing from refference for 2 to 6 years until you "master" the anatomy will most likely kill your joy of art and will get boring fast , ik that if u want to do your own stuff you must learn the rules and then break them , but learning the rules day after day after day can simply put you down , i used to do only reff. and i stoped drawing for 2 months becuause it was the same thing over and over again . I have a friend that droped drawing after 9 years. for him the confort zone of refference killed all his fun and he simple gived up

Even if you draw something from imagination that looks .. meh will probably motivate you alot more then drawing a refference perfect, at least that is my opinion on the matter.

I think a 50%-50% it's the best way to go.

Yeah, I should've said avoid imagination at all costs while you study. You can still fool around in your free time.

Something I did back in the day, was copying an old drawing exercize, and then trying to ink one of my characters over the copy, to see how much it works. But I'd hardly call that studying.

Hmm then i must agree you with , when studying you should avoid imagination , but i don't think avoiding it totally is helpfull either , 2 years ago i used to learn something ( let's say arms/hands for this example ) after reading some books or watching some ref. getting the main idea in mind , i was doing alot of imagination stuff and then went back to see where and what mistakes i made. that helps me improve alot faster , since i was thinking about all the poses for the arm and doing them myself , copying and using ref is REALLY good. , but the final goal is for you to do that by yourself.

i don't think imagination doesn't have a place in study drawings , you just have to study , maybe copy some ref. but then try to put what you learn in action. ( sorry for the bad english , i'm not a native English speaker)

I think I learnt something from the above discussion on how to draw from imagination
So lets draw the basic pose and gesture by keeping in mind the Phrase "I am Bored"

I may take some time to do this because I am already occupied by many other things but surely i will post

Lets do it
"I am Bored " basic gesture poses from memory
