Best of February 2016 & GLAS Fest

This weekend I went to Berkeley, CA for the inaugural GLAS Animation Festival, organized and directed by Jeanette Bonds, aka @elementalbadger here on Newgrounds. NG was an event sponsor and had two screenings curated by Sean Buckelew (@wh347). It was an inspiring weekend, with many brilliant animators and animations. We should all meet up there next year!

I'm hoping more festival animators will find their way to NG in the coming years and I want everyone to know they are welcome here. There is an audience on NG that would love to see your work.

@BerzerkStudio just released Zombidle! There are moments in the game where you can watch a video ad to receive an upgrade but NG Supporters skip the ad and get the upgrade instantly! I'd like to thank the Berzerk crew for popping in this perk, it is much appreciated.

I was just thinking about NG supporter related perks in games earlier today.

After the game I'm working on, I want to go back to web for a while.IDK if NG is down with it, I wanna do some small IAP stuff in my free games on AG and Kong. I thought it would be cool to still offer some perk to NG users who are supporters.

I'd love to have supporter perks in more games moving forward. Would be great to have IAP support in our API but don't see it happening soon.

as for the 100$ voter of the month award removal: i would love to win such an award, but if the removal of this award means the survival of NG/more strength to NG, then so be it!

HOWEVER, i do suggest you to add a 5$ award for the ''voter of the month'' ;
that way, both the coveted ''voter of the month'' title will still exist, and people will vote alot in order to win it (like i also did in the past and now), and you will only spend 5 dollars a month, or 60$ per year. (and 60$ per year is alot cheaper than the 100$ per month/1200$ per year old prize costs...)

im just throwing a useful idea in here.

also, be sure to add many pixel awards and or NG badges for whoever wins the ''voter of the month'', with NG badges that will appear on the user's stats on his/her profile.

we love helping NG, and we also love to have cool site-medals/badges/achievements!

The guy may speak in an awkward manner, but I absolutely agree. Keeping a 5$ reward plus adding a profile badge indication thing for stat whoring. You won't really be spending the 5$, since there's a minimum of 100$ for a payment to be made. So unless they contribute greatly with content, the 5$ will never be paid. It's a trick! One I don't mind. Perhaps from the philosophy in which all the little bits help.

Okay. But what if you reward it to someone who is already a supporter? Will you take it back and give it to someone who ISN'T one already? Or will it extend their current supporter status for another year or whatever?

Would be cool if you could limit certain functionality to Supporters as easily as you add things like medals via the API, like a line of code you can add in actions to lock an MC, and maybe show an included 'Supporters Only' asset similar to the medal pop-up. Or a login box for logged out users. If such stuff doesn't already exist.
