Hoverboards: Cool or Lame?

So I was at the movie theater to see Star Wars and before the movie started they had ads for hoverboards and other similar gadgets. These kids behind me who were like 11-14 saw it and were like "those are so cool, I want one" and "they have those at the mall, I need one now!"

Of course they do look kinda cool, but are they THAT cool? I've seen a few people with them around, some of them even light up. They're about $400-$800.

Do you think they're worth it or do they seem like a pointless new "toy?"

It's just a segway without the handle thing. It doesn't even really hover.

Another fad.

Well if they worked like the movies...

But they don't. Let's just wait another four years for the tech to be perfected.

My thoughts exactly.

These are not hoverboards. False advertising. If this was advertised as a hoverboard and you bought one, sue for your money back.

It appears to be a sort of balancing wheelie robot, not a hoverboard.

That's right.

I think that they're really cool toys, but I would only consider one when they surmount this explosion problem and the price has been dramatically cut.

A hoverboard actually hovers (doesn't touch the ground) and that, that is just a segway

If you closely consider what we WERE expecting back in the 80s, and where we are now, you can kinda see our culture for what it is at face value. The name and the novelty of something sells. But kids are stupid and maleable and will always want what's popular. This is by far the dumbest contraption I've ever seen.

I'd possibly buy one but when I have a lot more money, and the price drops down a lot.

These things are like segways with invisible handles but I have to say they do look cool.

A plain skateboard is better than those dumb things (especially since you don't have to worry about a skateboard burning your house down).

That's right I like guns and ponies. NO NEW GUN CONTROL.

They're just another lame toy.
Hell,even skateboards are better.

Response to Hoverboards: Cool or Lame? 2015-12-23 16:33:15

I could see them as being cool, and perhaps easy to use in some cases, but they aren't gonna be cool if they explode and burn the house down.

Good luck trying to find somewhere to ride it seeing as everywhere seems to be banning them.

Preston has a good lot of places where we can use them, I'm more than lucky!

Considering that these things can blow up due to flaws in the factory... not so much. I don't want to risk becoming a WW2 veteran with blown up legs just to be in the "IN" crowd.
