Wonderful People R U ONE? 2014-02-28 15:50:43

I'm surprised a lot by the people I'm NOT following, because I simply forget to click the heart at the top of their user page, or next to their name on a submission.

For example, the first person I was gonna plug today is Jenjamik, when I realized I wasn't even following him myself! Jenjamik hit the FP this week with Wizard Vs Wizard:

Old-timers (if 2010 is old-time) may remember him for this:

Or maybe his amazing Castle Crashers fan art!

This week we were graced with the latest from coughing-dog:

He has made soooo much great stuff over the years, going back to 2007!

Jenjamik and coughing-dog are both close to having 1,000 fans. Show some love and help them cross that line!

OliPutland is one of the more underrated guys around here nowadays. Some of his works have been voted criminally low; his stop motion is worth a lot more eyeballs.

Speaking of more eyeballs, LazyMuffin uploaded Nameless 7 this month and it also deserves waaaaay more views!

Other recent works by LazyMuffin:

The feed system on NG is one of our greatest features and the next revision is gonna make it even more awesome. You should seriously click as many hearts as possible, so these artists know people are watching and so you don't miss it when artists you like share new stuff. Artists, be sure to plug your NG profile across other social nets! It helps ALL OF US here on Newgrounds.

If you like 80s VHS tapes, this Dark Souls 2 movie by veselekov is right up your alley:

Veselekov teamed up with redminus and EthanAlways in one of our movie jams a ways back:

This is why we need to do more movie jams. redminus was back last month as well, with this Call of Duty spoof:

You may remember him for these classics:

He's got a decent number of followers by NG standards, but why not have over 10k?

In the gaming space, Nutcasenightmare totally conquered this week. Not only did he upload one of the best HTML5 games ever, he made his own version of the NG API for HTML5! It's open source on Github. Read all about it.

Nutcasenightmare makes some really inventive games and totally deserves your follows. He also deserves your FUNDING. Please back his open source game project about surveillance. Also play his other games:

Coolboyman and Stix teamed up to make a great run and gun:

I ended up playing that for way longer than I should have this week. Coolboyman only has 50 fans but his alt is one of the most prominent figures in NG history. Give him a follow and keep up on his ongoing developments! Stix too!

omaromeir is approaching his one year anniversary on NG and has already contributed a number of interesting games with a fun visual style:

Give him a follow and keep an eye on what he's up to!

I feel like it was just yesterday that Kcori joined up, crazy to think it was back in 2011. I know there is some Flappy Bird fatigue going around, but I couldn't help falling in love with his FB / EarthBound mashup this week:

Here are some of his previous works:

Only 82 fans? He has 338 followers on Twitter, surely we can beat that.

I started following VincentGrey after seeing this in the Art Portal:

Last week I was delighted to see this pop up in my feed as a result:

I also started following cheapcookie, after her colorful works kept catching my eye:

Ephyse achieved 1000 fans this month and celebrated with this:

Ephyse made the site skin for Pico Day 2012 if you remember that; it was amazing.

Braiton got my follow with this wild take on RPG battle music:

I kinda want to make an RPG now.

Andersson187 released this great piece of chipstep:

He also made the music for this game:

I love the whole vibe nietzlawe is putting out. Three of his latest:

And finally, some METAL by Schleif:

That wraps things up for this Friday, PLEASE ABSORB AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE this weekend and CLICK LOTS OF HEARTS! Remember, you want to click the hearts on the user pages or next to their names. The heart at the top of the individual submission page is to favorite that submission; it's a little confusing I know.

Enjoy yer weekend.

I may not be a "wonderful" person yet, but I may be one day in the future.

Is there a cap on how many 'favorite users' you can have? I (think) had a max of around 1064, now it's just below a thousand. I deleted some dead accounts, recovered some of my lost favorites (the earliest ones went first)... weren't favorites under their own sub-sections, like art, audio, movie, game (and none for the unpublished)?

Vault 101 I have many old and deleted Flash submissions, PM me the filename, maybe I got it.

Yeah Tom, we definitely need more movie jams.

9 game jams but only 2 movie jams? We gotta add more!

Response to Wonderful People R U ONE? 2014-02-28 16:48:43

I may not be on the list, but I'm still wonderful! And you know what? Everyone else is too! Everyone is cool and wonderful!

There is a limit but I think we tried to raise it pretty high - let me know if you hit it.

And yes, maybe it was up until this redesign but we used to have categories such as "Favorite Musicians" and "Favorite Game Developers", which was kinda cool but it ultimately added to the mess and confusion that NG can often become... When it came time to address feeds we decided it was best to just have a single list of users you follow.

How about adding a filter to the page? Could be by aura, by name, date added... I'm so picky, sry.

Also a link from the star in the header to the main feed page, maybe replacing the last notification that shows up now. Sometimes I forget the page exists. And if your feed is like a twitter page with things constantly being bumped down, the star is only so helpful.

I think I will give a good reason in May or April to follow me too.

Damn, not on the list this time. Hopefully sometime in the future though!

Some really awesome people to follow there, I've only recently started watching LazyMuffin's cartoons and I'm really getting into them. It's great to see somebody be able to regularly produce a lot of content and still have it be of high quality after all this time.

One of my next big goals is still to have my name on one of these lists. In the next few months, I should hopefully have four games being released so we'll see how that goes!

What a great thread Tom, this is exactly what NG is all about, unearthing talent and exposing it to the community and further.
