Straight Edge is associated with the hardcore music scene and sometimes with skinheads (not the extreme right ripoff of it). It's an anti-consumerism ideology that reaches most aspects of the lives of those who follow it. They are against anything that is cheap consumption and superficial lifestyles. So this is why they are not only against capitalism, but also against casual sex. They do not do drugs and do not drink alcohol.
It is a lifestyle, but it's also a community thing. Like other semi-organized groups, they get together with other people who share these values.
If these are of a personal lifestyle choice variety, I fully respect that. If these are of a "I don't do this so nobody can do this" variety, I don't.
They usually never force their views on others, unlike bitches like kisane who ruins thread with his hatred for anything that isn't him.
