PsychoGoldfish just pushed a big publishing system update live!

Most of these changes are invisible on the back-end. The system should ultimately be more robust and less prone to bugs.

That doesn't mean there aren't bugs at the moment though! If you experience any issues with Games, Movies or Audio, please PM me with a bug report. Include your browser, version and OS for good measure. Screenshots are great too.

If you use the publishing system, you will notice little changes in how uploaded files are presented. If you upload a game, there is an edit link next to your file where you can specify browser requirements and whether your game is touch friendly. The touch friendly data will be used to ultimately make mobile browsing easier.

One aesthetic improvement is that HTML5 games no longer flicker the "HTML5" text in the page before the game loads.

Also that missing thumbnail bug should finally be fixed and submissions should properly publish with their thumbnails. UPDATE: It's not fixed but it shouldn't break the publishing process as badly as it has before due to how things are now organized. UPDATE 2: Icons are now fixed!

More exciting updates are close to launch now that this is complete!

IE UPDATE: Some IE javascript bugs have been fixed, you may need to clear your cache for the changes to take place. Let me know if you are still experiencing issues in IE!

Excellent, now I just need to publish something.

Oh, and for adult games you can't vote before you press the play button. Nice addition!

Yup I'm having this problem too, assume it's a bug related to the update.

In case anyone was wondering why we did that, we're trying to make NG more accessible to different platforms. And if you were to view a flash game in an iPad, we don't want people down-voting things because they aren't compatable. The simplest way to handle that was to hide the vote bar until the content was successfully embedded.

It also doubles as a slight deterrent to people who just 5/0 shit without even watching it. If you have content set to automatically play in your portal preferences you probably won't even notice the vote bar is ever gone.

I just tested in IE and it worked for me - try clearing your cache and rebooting IE, let me know if that solves it or not!

I'm not particularly fond of the new look of the warning things, though videos finally having them is a nice touch and a great addition.

When I mouse over willie d rumble 4 (second in UJ atm), the image takes up my whole screen like it didn't get resized or something. File share upload doesn't do anything unless I exit out and navigate back to that page.

As a test, I just went into a project to see if I could update a thumbnail post-submitting, but then I noticed that the SWFs of all my projects are currently at 0KB. They still are uploaded if I view the actual movie, but I worry that any updates/edits that I save will cause the SWF to no longer be part of the published project. I noticed that this is very similar to the old problem where an SWF would auto-delete itself upon a failed publish.

There's also a strange thing with the date, which I'd love to know if anyone else has on their SWFs. It reads "Uploaded 12/31/69." I don't know, that could be an error from a mismatched date/time on my computer when I uploaded or something, but I've never noticed this problem before (plus it reads the correct time for the mp4).

I'll attach a screenshot to show what I mean. I noticed this on Safari, but I also tested it in the most recent version of Firefox (with cache, cookies, etc. all cleared), and the problem persisted. I'm running on OSX. I've still got a backup SWF on my computer, so I can try publishing it to see if the current one gets deleted or not as a test.

Same here. I uploaded 140x90 icons for the flashes that did that, for now. The bug is still visible with the Animal Crossing Swimmsuit flash (the one that doesn't work, the working one didn't have an icon and I had to add one).

This seems like a bug... Though it's probably because I have the dimensions set to 1920x1080, it didn't do this before though...

I really like that you can turn off autoplay on videos now, because I usually open multiple submissions in new tabs and I'd end up with a chaos of 5 different videos playing at once. That was also the only reason I didn't like the mp4 portal, but that's been taken care of!

Nice one guys!

I love how you have to actually watch the movie to vote now great job :)

I know a lot of people don't like the new voting system, but it worked fine for me and I love the fact that people can no longer 5/0 stuff. Big ups to the staff on this one, guys!

Still not working on that system... strange. I never really use IE so it is not a bother for me, but it was a windows Vista laptop and I was running the latest version of IE.

That as the main reason I didn't like the mp4 uploads too. That and I ran into some videos that stayed at 0 seconds long and it just sat at a black screen with the little bar thing on the bottom.
So it's great to see mp4 videos are no longer auto-playing now.

Is that auto-play removal an option? Also, do you have to wait to start the movie to vote or wait until the movie finishes to vote?
