The PS3 came out 4 months later in the UK than in the US. 2 weeks is nothing.

I've found that in many Game stores the managers have little care for games and they're more there for the business side of it, my old manager hardly ever played games, just what she was required to, she was not going to buy a console. Many Game store employees are on a very low wage, hardly enough to really afford a brand new console and someone has to have direct experience with them, and the manager has to know what they're talking about otherwise they might not sell as many units due to the lack of any kind of persuasion.
They get them so they have direct experience and can tell the customers everything about them.

Fair enough, but that isn't really the case I've seen. I had a friend who worked at game and his boss owned a PS3, Xbox and Wii yet barely knew anything about exclusives apart from the obvious ones.

Meh, I'd rather just pre order it still. Can't care for a bundle that may have a game I don't care much about. If Killzone is the game coming with it, not a big deal to me. The last KZ was pretty bad, eight hour campaign and poor multiplayer. Count me out. I'll stick with the pre order.

Really? I hear Killzone 3 was pretty good, I never got to try it but if it's like Killzone 2 then I'd find it pretty enjoyable.

Virtual Boy my ass!
If anything it would be more like Sega VR.
Besides, Virtual Boy held your head to a table.
A truly prophetic sig...

Lets take the time to address something that's kind of a big deal. The PS4 will NOT support video capture. What this essentially means is no lets plays, walkthroughs, commentaries and reviews will head back to the dark ages of 1999 where someone points a camera to their T.V. to record footage. Kinda like how people record footage on the Vita.
Why is this a big deal?
Well, aside from the fact that there are no drawbacks the main pro of lets plays a commentaries is free advertising. Indie games thrive on this stuff. I recall a quote from Notch a while ago where he said "Minecraft would not have been a success if it wasn't for the Youtube community." Other games such as Slender and Amnesia the dark descent gained popularity from Youtube channels as well. The reason for this is because people watch the videos and say "Hey that looks like fun, I wanna try that." A personal example was when I watched Two Best Friends play Double Dragon Neon. I had no interest in the game prior until I saw their lets play.
Secondly, commentators help keep a games community alive. Commentators keep attention on the game and keep the community active and interested. Uncharted 3 was a great example of this, if you played the multiplayer. In UC3's multiplayer there would be a screen on the bottom right that showed youtube videos of people playing the game so you can pass time, it advertised tournaments and had "best plays" compilations.
Closing statement is developers could use the free advertising, there are no drawbacks, they keep the community alive, and people are entertained by them. We should try and contact some developers and let them know this is the case because apparently none of them seems to know that PS4 cant capture video. Additionally we should also try to bring this to Sony's attention, and tell them why this is a big deal and why it's a bad idea to remove video capture.

I agree, however that isn't to say lets plays will not exist on the PS4. Because of the video recording feature which is basically what let's players will have. Basically if you don't have a PS4 then you will have to watch a potato recorded video, which sucks.

I could have sworn the PS4 was ahead in that department in that it could capture up to 15 minutes whereas the Xbox One could only record 5. I take it that's not the case.

It can but heres the thing, you cant record outside audio, so no commentating and you cant edit video since you upload directly. So commentaries were impossible. Aside from that some lets players make episodes longer than 15 minutes. Everyone was hoping for video capture to off set this but its not possible.

Ah I see, so it's literally just the 15 minutes you record straight, with no possibility for trimming/sorting clips?

You can trim and shorten clips, but no editing or commentary. Sucks really but where there's a will there's a way, someone will make a device to record let's plays on PS4, or Sony will fix.

Exactly.
Good news everyone Sony has commented on PS4 game capture and that the PS4 can capture on HDMI. However this is something that will be patched in after launch. This is great news, lets plays can continue onto next gen!
