Geezus. It's late by a few minutes, I'm sorry guys. I started trying to upload at 11:59 and it just kept having problems. I hope you'll have some mercy on this poor soul.

Well, the deadline is now passed, and we have all of the entries in. And the officially unofficial submissions list is in: so as they say in Venezuela, Foxy Shazam.

I'm surprised to see there technically aren't any dropouts this round, this means there won't be any problems with logistics for future matches!

Also, now that the limit has passed, let the painstaking process of expectation and deception commence!

All the submission this round are really long. Mine was the longest I've made so far but it still falls around the middle in terms of duration.

Will it take the same amount of time as in Round 1, or shorter, to dish out the results?

As stated in Step's newspost from a while back, this is the judging period:

Round 2 (Judging):
Starts - 02/09/2012
Ends - 05/09/2012

A full house. Awesome! And TroisNyxEtienne was worrying that lots of people won't submit. Pff.

Thanks again to RampantMusik for the song list. Expect your results on the 5th!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm wonderfully happy that this round is over. It was so stressful. x_x

And mine at the low end of short...

Mine is pretty short too. I'm not sure I'll make it to the next round, but I am happy to have come this far.

Response to Ngadm '12: Round 2 2012-09-03 14:01:14

I'm pretty stunned by how much better the average quality of submissions is this time around

I really liked your track, even though it was short. That's probably the only advantage I've got, the length of my song haha.. (that's what she said =P)

I've actually learned a lot from this contest. I'm glad I was able to experience what I have so far; seeing all the different styles/techniques everyone uses is fun. The feedback is just gold. Tis like musical heaven or something. *_*

I probably won't do something like this again until I have some more training, however. Ooph.

I don't know if you're aware, but you're still part of the game, as your song was admitted considering you finished it at 11:59.

Best of luck, fellow contestant!

Psh yeah but I'm going up againstyou. =P
But nah, just felt like saying out of the blue that this is a good experience to have. Sorry if it came out oddly or out of place.

Pff, you beat over 150 people to get into this competition. Anyone who does that certainly has enough training.

Well I made it back, and since I see that nobody in this thread is complaining yet, I've made it before the results. Does everyone in here feel pretty confident about their submission? I must say that the music for this round is quite extraordinary.

I cannot say I am very confident -- I'm confident in the message and the emotion, yes, but as far as production goes, I've done what I could. These brackets are starting to be able to work either way (A or B could win).

Still, I know I've done my best -- surely I'm not alone in feeling this way.

I am confident with the musicality of my piece but feel that length and execution might be an issue. There are several things I wanted to tidy up but wasn't able to due to the deadline. If the ideas floating around in my head had more time to make their way onto my computer, the submission could have been ten times as epic. I could honestly see it going either way in my bracket. Demon-Slayer upped his game this round and came up with some solid material over twice the length of mine.

I will say, however, that I packed a lot of details into two minutes of material. A single measure can take a while when you are dealing with a full orchestra of instruments and trying to keep the balance just right.

I'm quite unsatisfied withe end result, but I feel I got lucky that my contestant had some bad luck of her own. Of course, I'm not the kind of guy to rejoice on the misery of others, but I feel that at the very least the odds were re balanced, if anything.

I'll be doing an actual live-played version of my track to compensate for the short track, and it'll include a jazz flute solo, a trumpet solo, and a piano solo by yours truly. We're looking into finding a schedule to record the whole thing, but it should be done by the end of the week, so it'll perhaps compensate the sub-par quality of this round's submition.

I'm here to tell you that you're not alone. I produced what I could in the amount of time given. I can say in all confidence that either you or Blazingdragon will emerge the victor in steph's competition.

That is just proof enough to me of your endurance and perseverance when it comes to music. You completely surpass me in all regards, so I want to support both you and everyone else in any possible way that I can. I'm here to serve.

Thank you for the support Bosa. Honestly though, I think Kor-Rune is going to come out on top. His pieces have amazing production, crazy cool harmonies, catchy melodies, complex structures, and are generally awesome. There are a lot of great musicians here, but his round one entry slaughtered the competition IMO. I'll put up a fight though if I make it through this round!

You completely surpass me in all regards.

I definitely look up to you as a composer. Your humility is appreciated though.
