I thought it was going to be worse. I thought they were actually going to use metal or something and build an artificial island. I am fairly glad that was not the case, but then again, this doesn't seem all that better. I can understand wanting to name an island after Equestria, but building an actual monument sounds weird. Of course, the Japanese apparently built a life sized Gundam statue, although worldwide, Gundam is probably more popular than MLPFIM.
