Hentai ads plastered the entire site, and that was the era of the dress-up and badly made hentai games.

NG used to be all about the Adult games.

Those were the good old days.

Anyone remember this ad? It used to be my favorite avatar in the world when I was 15.

Rather redundant. How does one reward someone with a reward? Isn't that kind of a loop because their second reward is also a reward which is a reward?

Ah I do love to reminisce about the constant porn on this site, but I'm still happy to see it (mostly) gone.

I'm surprised that the people who visited Newgrounds back then accepted this fact and continued to play games and watch movies here. It says a lot about how great NG was/is.
I always was scared of the ads too back then but as soon as I realized how janky they were, I just ignored them.
NG was just starting and paying it's way and most users didn't care because they came here for games or flash. Plus, most users were smart enough not to click or mess with that ads.

I'll try to find it

Perhaps true. Of course, I don't remember them.
We sometimes could virus containing ads today.
I just really want the sexual suggestive ads. It fits the old "Fuck you, we're Newgrounds" attitude.

I know I wasn't thats WHY I SAID ITS NOT OUR ROOTS. As in me and OP have not been on this site long enough to know.

That seems to be true. This place is slowly becoming like the other websites. The thing about markets are, the more you try to be like something else, the less of an identity you have. The identity you try to share with the larger entity doesn't make you any different from them. So, why would users go to the lower entity?
Why would users prefer this area over something like Youtube when Newgrounds is trying to be similar to Youtube in attitude? One reason why I came here and stayed was because of its attitude. It had a more gritty feel. It's losing that. And, in turn, it feels like it's killing itself.

Damn, I feel old. These ads were all over the site when I was 13 in 2003.
I never really cared or was bothered by the amount of hentai/porn ads. There were a few graphic ones if you went into the Adults section.
I guess I should be proud at 13 I was dodging virus laced hentai ads.

Derped out hardcore. Sorry to keep spamming with old gifs. It's just crazy to me to see these and know that there 8-10 years old. It's somewhat nostalgic but also a realization how much NG has changed despite how minor it seems.

I dunno, I always assumed the site was maturing with it's creator really. When Tom first made the site he was a kid, and the majority of the content were thing like 'Murder the teletubbies' type games. I won't say that sort of thing isn't still fun, but it certainly felt a bit 'Rebel against anything and be edgy and dark, wooo!', which is fine I suppose, because that's how most people are when they're teenagers.
I'm rambling a bit, but my basic point is that it doesn't feel (to me) like newgrounds it trying to be like anyone else, it's just mellowing out. The shift of tone from 'Yeah, kill shit, see some tits, awesome!' to straight up creativity is nothing but a positive in my eyes.

Eww.
I know it's supposed to be a joke but that "Golfinho" stuff is disgusting and horrible.
I'm fine with hentai but that "Golfinho" stuff makes me sick to my stomach.

Yeah, that's what attracted a lot of people to NG. The Hentai porn games that were virus and spyware-free.

Actually I was.
I used to visit all the time but was afraid to make an account so I just lurked constantly.
So many hours wasted playing flash games.
I see no porn on the front page. I only see art.

wow. flashback.
I remember coming on here in like 2002 and my stepdad thought I was looking at porn because of the ads. It took me a while to explain.

I wonder if that "assholes" collection is still on the site. I mean the collection of flashes that were in extremely poor taste, making fun of people who died, tragedies like 9/11, etc.
