Okay, so I've seen lists on websites about "How to kill a fictional character", but never any lists on how to bring them back once they've been killed or supposedly killed.
Can we start a list, please?

Jesus jerked off on them and they were given the magical Seed of Life.
You should look up TVTropes' "Back From The Dead" list, they have plenty of stuff there. Hmm, they don't have a specific list, but you can also go to the "Comic Book Death" page on Wikipedia (you see how relevant this trope is?) and it should take care of your problems. The most common ones I can think of have already been brought up, be it through resurrection or whatever. Of course, making it all a dream isn't technically resurrecting them as they were never dead to begin with.
-Some mythical/ magical object that their life then becomes bound to.
-A sacrifice of equal/ similar value.
-Partially restoring them to life. Eg. necromancy, zombies, vampires, "downloading" their consciousness into another form.
-Using sci-fi medicine/ technology.
-Fate/ a deity intervening because some higher purpose is not yet fulfilled.
-Reincarnation with past life regression.
But whatever way you do it, make sure the risks/ drawbacks are very high, otherwise death is about as meaningful as getting a splinter. Unless that's what you're going for, of course.
n00b!!!1 use teh resurektion spel!!!2?
In Supernatural Dean summoned a demon to revive Sam, then when Dean was killed the next year angels pulled him out of hell.
In Fringe when Walt's son, Peter, died Walt went into another dimension and stole that dimension's version of Peter.
You could also do some weird sci-fi Frankenstein thing.
Here's a way: The Bad guy kills one character, and drives the others away.
He/she then Proceeds to take the character's corpse and bring it back to the evil base, where he puts a helmet on the corpse, giving life and making it his/her slave, sends to attack good guys and gets head smashed, breaking helmet and releasing slavey-ness, life is a side effect.
Inject them with the T-Virus.
Like a bawws!

1. It depends how they died
2. Writing forum
To put it simply: Don't kill off a character simply to bring them back unless you have a really, really good reason for doing so.
If you need to bring a character back then do something that is actually logical within the context of your universe. Be creative with it and try to avoid using plot devices that have been done to death. It shouldn't seem forced, rather it should flow naturally and seamlessly with the story.

This - If a story is narrated by a "Watson", it could be a case of establishing that the narrator was mislead into believing the main character was killed.
Alternatively a Hound of the Baskevilles type story could be pulled off by claiming the events take place before the character was killed off.
This sig is 100% effective protection from all hexes, curses, evil spirits and bad karma. Guaranteed.
You could probably find a LOT of ways to resurrect a character in Dragon Ball Z, considering there was only one character in the entire series who never died, yet they kept finding ways to resurrect main characters.
It was Hercule, by the way.
