VOTING IS OVER
I shall now put together the final list of tracks.
So whats happing with the mastering, did you get someone to do it? If not i think i might have found a guy that will do it for fee. I could have word with him and see if i could haggle him down. Getting a free qoute cant hurt i guess but if someone on NG can do it then why not.

Hmm, I think I've done a fine job mastering my own song, so honestly, I wouldn't like anyone fiddling with it any more.

If you're talking about putting your track on a CD with a whole bunch of others, I'm not sure if mastering is avoidable. Assuming we want the CD to sound polished and well refined.

If it's a must, then ok :)

I was wondering how can you master the songs without having the master tracks, or what kind of filters do you use... Hmm
well, they do have to balance the volume in all the tracks so one isn't maxed out and the next as quiet as possible. That's very annoying to the ear.

Awesome! When / how were you going to get the uncompressed audio files from us?

I suspect they go through the whole song and bring out parts in certain areas by changing filters, eq, etc. Not just one filter over the whole song. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA LULZ.

Mastering is usually (not always) putting compressors/EQ on the master track. So yeah, most of the time it is just one over the whole song.

Then it's basically what they have now, just the master track for each song and then "fixing" EQ at some points. I wonder how they'll master mine. >:)

What you're thinking of is mixing which is usually done by the artist if they're an electronic musician. I don't know about multi-piece bands, but I know I do the mixing on my stuff.
So which shirt got picked in the end? And is it a one size fits all or are you going to ask us individually what our sizes are? And just to clarify if this shirt getting sent free to all of us who got on the CD? Or do we buy the album and get one with it?
Thanks Fatkid for doin all this man :)
Winning Charity: Music for Therapy
Winning T-Shirt *T-shirt #2*
UPDATES ON CD:
I am mixing it now, but won't be able to finish until Janurary 13th because I have a venue I'm practicing for on the 11th. The artist bailed, but I just sent lots of PMs to new people. I also sent out PMs for a masterer. Tom right now is far to busy to respond to PMs currently... but hopefully I will be able to get into touch with him.
Thanks for your guys patience! This CD should be great :)

Yaay, congratz for the winning T-shirt!
It's been fun. Hope we do another one at some time in the future :D
Isn't it handier that every reupload their music as a .wav for better quality for the cd and the mix? Because I uploaded mine as 192kbps and I didn't knew that.

Yes, good idea. I need to PM everybody to send me a .WAV of their song...
Want to help me out with that haha. Right now I have to go to work, but if you could send a PM to everyone in the album to send me a .WAV so I can send it to whoever will master them, that would be great. Of course, mastering will take the longest, but hopefully it won't be all that hard to do.
Just wanted to say i have contacted a local youth group "yipworld" and it turns out these guys have had a professional music studio for years!
Bassically i asked if i could have access to the studio for mastering the CD and i fully explained the project to them. I am still waiting for a reply (i only sent email away 5 mins ago) but if all goes to plan we will not only have the CD's mastered but these guys will jump on the bandwagon and give the project a little exposure via local newspapers.
Trust me these guys are in the newspaper all the time for things like "young person of the year" and "Look how much we raised for charity" kind of things and i am sure thier going jump on this since i am local musican thats helping to make a CD for charity so hopefully we get a little exposure out of it too.
I will keep you guys posted on any devlopments on this ...

Hey FatPacker, how do you want the WAVs? Straight up email, or 4shared/mediafire stuff?

Cheers, mate. ^_^ It's been fun, indeed. And I really wouldn't mind getting involved in another project like this in years to come.
I'm only sad that lots of great artists didn't participate.

I am planning on making another one of these with more open judges and criteria next time. Thanks a lot everyone for helping me organize this!
I made a front page post and got the help from various artists to design art for each CD and the Cover! Hopefully we get a mastered sometime soon! *crosses fingers*
OH YEAH AND EVERYONE SEND ME A .WAV OF YOUR SONG WITH THE TITLE. Thanks. ;)
REMEMBER GUYS, I need a .WAV of your entry in order to add it to the CD! I will PM anyone who hasn't given it to me in the future :)
