only a little, one small slip with paint and you've wasted a lot of time.

callmedoc created all the mask concepts and let me use them after i asked (look him up if you haven't already). i'm posting this really early so you can see how i do things and i can't wait to create the end result.
Oh how this makes me rather giddy to view such. It intrigues me seeing the masks done by another~ How profound :D I look forward to seeing the finished version! Oh yes!
good to know i'm going in the wright direction, no one has commented good or bad at all.
WOW, doing lots of characters really takes a world of time. still working away and things are starting to come together.
After i'm done with this picture, i'm looking to create a few more robotic/human (war machines etc.........) pictures. if anyone has done this and has tips for it (like popular artists i could look up, or methods/ ideas to use), it would be cool if you shared them. PM or post it below please.

the lord of our savior. el christio
working on emotions, as the mask picture got me thinking about it.
back to newgrounds after A-level school work project (which sucked). My first drawings are always so bad, but the end result is what matters anyway. i don't think any artist is 100%happy with their first drawings.

Huh, okay. That's a pretty brisk suicide note-

OH WELL THAT EXPLAINS IT.
Shitty jokes aside, are you familiar with the concept of a flyswatted pose? Basically it's a pose which looks unnatural and physically uncomfortable, as well as artistically mediocre (that is, a figure that looks as if its been "flyswatted" onto the page), and it's exactly what you've got here.
Now, I like your rendering skills, and although I don't care for the design - thats a personal preference, but man, you've got to get a little flow into those poses, you know what I'm saying, brother? You know what I'm saying?
Either way it ain't a terrible picture. But It can't hurt to work on those stances a bit.
Good luck and good thread, man!

ouch, What is that, Live trace?
I wouldn't suggest thinking that is an easy way out.
You need a ridiculously huge and clean piece to prevent it from cluttered with trace.
You'd be better off tracing it by hand.

Not really.
Sure it seems like a quick fix and god send, but it is far from it.
Look at the detail you have around the top of your collar in your original. The live trace has completely destroyed it.
Same goes for around the eyes and parts of the face.
And The headband looks more like the tank logo than the Leaf now.
If you want to go this rout, then thats alright. This method can work for some pieces, but trust me it is not for all.
At least know how to edit the trace later though.
Go up to Object>Expand It will give you the vector points back so you can edit the trace further. Careful though. it looks like a mess.
make of this what you will. however i think i'll stick to good old Mr. pencil and paper next time round.
lots of art whores around the art thread recently. i might try being a (art) whore when my next holiday comes up, see what happens.

Only do it if you really can devote the time an effort into it.
I've seen too may "art whore" type threads pop up, and the OP makes like 3 of the drawings, and then just gives up, or they make them, but the drawings suck ass.
So you have to take a lot into consideration.
