Nice, I'm super excited for this. I should have started planning a bit sooner--inspiration is hard to come by...

Does it have to be for Robot day? Or can I submit something that has been written some time ago and currently a work in progress?

I'm pretty sure there's been no rules against submitting old works. That's probably why the audio forum's robot day thread fills up immediately.
So what, basically write any story that relates to the theme of Robots?

Can we submit more than one thing, or would you rather each person just chooses the best that they have?
What's up with that
what about the deadline? any other requirements, must the piece be something i have written for this event, or can i send in something roboty i written earlier?
Is there any criteria, any word limit/minimum, or anything like that? Or can we just do whatever the hell we want?
To whom it may concern:
I don't suppose there are many stipulations. The only criteria are that it must be about robots and that it must be submitted before Robot Day (July 10). There will be a judging panel, so mind your audience. There isn't a word limit, but something ridiculously long will turn away the judges. 5,000 words has been a previous limit, and it seems like a good limit to me. Also, the work must be original, but if it was written prior to the announcement, that's ok I think. Just be honest, or else you will get banned >.>
I'm pretty sure those are the only rules, but wait for further notice from the higher-ups. Also, MAKE SURE YOUR ENTRY IS 100% FINISHED AND REVISED!!! I cannot stress that strongly enough. If you turn in something rife with grammatical and spelling errors, the judges will instantly dismiss it. There are plenty of people to help proofread and edit/revise. Make sure that the process is reciprocal; if someone helps you with your entry, help them.

Are you being serious? Because I wasn't.
Pretty excited. I've got a pretty good idea for a story. Thinking about starting to write it tomorrow.

Not doing this for the prize money just so you know.
How would the money be given, if one is from overseas? (I'm from the good old U&K)

I was planning on posting it here and get some hints if it's good at all, but I'm starting to have my doubts, so if anyone could advise me what to do (or just show me the way i'll find out the rest ;D ) I'd appreciate it.

What about androids? Cyborgs? Mechas? Pseudo-intellectual computer generated holograms? Transdimentional space-programmed supercomputers? Transcomputational hypermetaphysical neurological mechandroid cybercryptological faux-bots?
I think the quesion opens up an avenue of discussion that most people would just take for granted. The theme is robots, but what is a robot?

I would like to think a robot is any machine (or human) incapable of emotion or feeling.
That is the basis for my one. A humanoid incapable of emotions.

What if a robot were programmed specifically to have emotions or feelings, or they were some form of artificial intelligence capable of feeling? I think robots have much more potential than people grant them.

Robots are programs written by humans. That's my assumed definition.

I think as long as it's a good story I don't think anyone will care if you use the exact, denotative definition. A robot is a machine made by humans that is autonomous. I don't think they are supposed to feel, but then again that would be a difficult story to write that would also likely be boring(I think Bender from "Futurama" is a good example: he clearly is mechanical, and lives with humans, but maintains and realizes he is different, but he can still act human and sometimes acquires human emotion). A robot that "feels" is an easier story to write.
Good luck to all.

Are there any restrictions you would like us to follow? Are there any specific rules for this before we submit stories that could cause problems? Just curious.
Hmmm, how come no one has submitted yet? Looking back on last years, someone submitted on the same day as it started...

I'm sure no one has forgotten. I'm still working on mine and still need to get a second word and some editing before submitting.

I'm sitting down and forcing myself to finish my rough draft before passing it on to some regulars. If anybody wants to exchange stories for proofreading/editing, I'll be happy to read what you've written.

Wow, I am taking a bit longer than expected, and my story isn't yet complete. Also, I've hit a snag tat I got to deal with. Hopefully I am about one hour away from finishing my first draft.

A few days to the deadline, and nobody's submitted yet. To be honest, I'm a bit worried.

I'm sure everybody's just scrambling to get things finished and edited. I know I am.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to enter or not. But seeing as everyone else is too chicken to go first I thought, 'why not' and entered my story anyway. I don't know exactly what you'd call my story, other than perhaps a bizarro sci-fi post-apocalyspe ice age story? Your move, Newgrounds...
