Busy busy busy! I have to animate 4 scenes a day in order to get done in time, and I just received an e-mail stating that Ill be doing an animation test for a studio in Texas. I am going Animation CRAZY right now! lol

Otherwise, I'm still on track, did my 4 scenes for the day. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

I think that after this I'm switching back to flash 8, I had CS4 just because I was trying to learn AS3 (which I didn't), and stopped using 8 because it switched my theme to Windows 7 Basic, which looked fugly and stressed me. But I have way more audio synching problems with CS4, I mean, I had them in 8, but they all solved by putting the audio in a movieclip. Which doesn't in CS4.

I know the most prevalent audio bug in Flash has always been fixable by having a single layer dedicated to looping a sound, in every scene for the full duration of the timeline, with the volume envelope just set to silent. It seems to still work, since I had to use it for my open round entry.

Response to Round 1! - ( Tofa 2011 ) 2011-06-03 02:26:45

I forgot to add, the reason why that works is because it forces the Flash player to drop frames in order to stay synchronized with the silent looped sound. Otherwise, in the areas without sound, it will render all the frames, even when performance causes a dip in frame rate, causing it to slowly get out of synch with future audio.

woah, I'll try that next time i have an audio problem, thanks!

Progress Reports anyone? You can download the 1920x1080 version of this wallpaper from my website. I'm liking how mine is turning out, I just wish it was done though! lol I'm getting really burnt out on this thing, but if I hold strong I should finish before the deadline.

Well I think I might actually be able to finish, I'm 50% done, but the 50% missing is the most animation intense, to say something, but with the nature of my future submission, it isn't actually that much.

Don't feel alone. I'm doing something silly.

I can't say it'll be funny, but I tried.

Mine is also silly.

Based on the open round scores, that's not actually all that unlikely.

Let's not count chickens, though.

I feel that this is relevant.

Ten minutes, seven seconds.

Mindy learns a Moral is one of my favorite flashes from all time.
I've watched it 1327468714 times and still enjoy it.

It was an entry for TOFA?

I don't know, I forever waited for part 2.

Would it be acceptable if I were to upload my submission to the NG dump and post it here, rather than upload it to the portal? I'm gunna try and finish it the best I can. I still have a lot to do, and I am rushing it a bit. I actually do like the concept of what I'm working on and would like to redo it later and make a better version after the tournament, with more fluid and smoother animation. I just don't want to submit something that is sub-par from the quality I expected it to turn out to be. I really wish so many things weren't in my way, so I could have animated more for this round. Starting a new job took most of my time, and I need to cheapen the animation quality a lot because of it.

Thanks, that's a relief. The deadline just happened to fall the weekend before finals and the 600 mile car trip back home for the summer.

That would take 254 centuries. (Yeah, I did the math.)

I'm actually surprised you bothered to count.

Oh, forgot to tell I'm an inmortal monk from space, and I knew it would be out all those years before it was made, and started watching just to kill time.

Ok ok, no more mashing random numbers, I do have actually watched it more times than a normal person should :P

Somebody said something about fbf being harder or something, yes it is, and I prefer it, it's easier and looks better, tho it does take more time. But making tweens actually look good, it requires a sheer bit of talent.

Also yay for dumpgrounds! Tho I think I will submit mine ^^

You guys do awesome quality work that even on dumping grounds it looks better :/

All I have to say about this FBF and Tweening business is "If you do it right, both look amazing".

Im more so of a FBF guy, simply because I find it easier most of the time to just get in there and draw it as opposed to thinking of each little thing Id need to turn into a symbol (and I was taught traditional animation in College so FBF just makes more sense.) but when I worked at WMS they taught me a way to do tweening that looked better than most FBF stuff.

Just do what you want. Own FBF, Dominate Tweening, or find a happy marriage of both. One isnt better than the other. Its not about which style you animate in, its about how you do it.

Also, I have 7 more scenes left to do! Woohoo!
