"Most Americans Don't Know..." 2011-04-13 01:18:44

I saw a Facebook poll today and it was because my friend answered it. It was a poll "Canada vs USA" and it was started by a person who is from Canada, and I guess she probably had a lot of friends who voted Canada and that spread around. There was like 100,000+ answers and most, like 90%, were Canadian responses and a lot of people thought it biased, and it probably was, but what was really lame was the stupid comments. I really did not like that poll, because it was full of hate because of the country a person lives in. I would never judge people for the country they live in.

It's hard to say cuz I was born in California to my mother who's a Chinese immigrant and she may have a non-biased opinion on the United States, but I thought it was stupid how some people commented stuff like "hey did you know that most americans don't know who's on the one-dollar bill?" and I couldn't find any information about that online or any poll, and if there was a poll it was inaccurate. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot didn't know, especially just-arrived immigrants, but I don't know very many people that stupid. Even the gangster wannabes my age know it's Washington. The guy just pulled up the facts out of his ass, and there were other people making similar comments like "hey did you know ____% of americans don't know what ______" blah blah.

I agree the US doesn't have the best education ever, not as good as some Chinese cities, Japan, and a lot of Asian countries in general, or even Canada, the question in rivalry in that poll, but I don't understand why people like to make up random statistics that can never be accurate even if surveyed.

so, why do you think people like to be like that, and full of hate, making up random statistics?

Why can't they accept being America Jr.?

They're still in their rebellious teenage years, eventually they will grow up and learn to love their Daddy

French Statue of Liberty that they gave us for being so badass.
English language that the Brits horribly bastardized
it is damn near impossible to get good sauerkraut in America so fuck that
Spanish guitar that would've faded into irrelevance if not for American folk music, most notably blues, which comes from Irish and African music and therefore has practically nothing to do with Spain anyway. And then we went on to invent basically every genre that currently exists, with the obvious exceptions of turbofolk (horrible Eastern European radio pop) and J-pop, neither of which anyone actually listens to.

welp so much for that huh

Actually that's only 84% right, it turns out that 14% know what they're talking about and the other 2% just get lucky.
