Kill Bill, NGMag 2004-04-14 09:36:03

I would just like to take a moment to say that I love the Kill Bill superbanners we have been running on the front page - they completely match the aesthetic of the site! It is refreshing to run ads for something that is actually a perfect match for the NG users, rather than the typical bouncing / flashing / annoying banners.

And no one has to pay me to plug Kill Bill - it's one of the coolest movies ever made. I just picked up the DVD, and will definitely be seeing Kill Bill 2 in theatres this weekend. I'll reiterate, I WASN'T paid to make this plug. :)

Sorry, I just had to gush... In other news - NGMag has had a successful launch and is building momentum! Right now what we really need is writers with some serious journalism skills. We want to maintain a certain level of quality for the articles that are published to NGMag - the best way to get the job is to be proactive and send us a sample we can actually post to NGMag. If we post it, you will likely get access to continue posting future articles directly to the site, on your own!

We are also looking for people who can give a good interview - I'm talking in-debth explorations into the heads of some of our favorite artists. Additionally, we are looking for people who really have their pulse on the NG community. People who can expose some really juicy tidbits about what users are up to. There are plenty of stories and scandals to expose - if you think you know some, give it a shot by writing an article! You can email your stories / interviews to wade@newgrounds.com, and he will keep track of submissions. You should put "NGMag" in your subject, so the submissions are easier to track (you know how much spam we get - it is easy to overlook bland subject lines).

Many thanks to Stamper and James, for all the time they have put into building the new NGMag, as well as the new front page design! We have simplified the sign-up form, so that registering is easier than ever. If you aren't already a registered user, sign up today - it's free!

It's nice to know that you're finally doing an ad for yourself Tom. It must make you feel pretty happy! Reminds me of the time some NG users put up some ads of their own, DanMalo's ones I remember best. Kill Bill's really that good huh? I should go see it sometime...

I consider myself to have considerable writing skills, but I wouldn't know what to write about for the mag. If I get an idea I'll be sure to give it a go though ;)

Definitely. The mag looks great, as does the front page. Thanks for the hard work, guys!

I'm not much of a writer, but if I get a juicy story written I'll send it your way.

Kill Bill definately ROCKS! It's great to see some advertisers getting involved with the site who aren't selling porno. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to phase out the porn altogether one day.

Well I'm glad to see someone is devoted to the exposure of awesome art! Kill Bill is a must see in my book. I remember sitting there in my theatre seat awestruck and speechless as I watched Uma slice and dice handfuls of asian guys up. But not just the action was great, Quentin has the ability to place the camera at the right place with the right lighting to create an atmosphere that almost seems like it's a comic strip.

I commend you Tom for giving it free publicity, that's devotion to the cause.

well.....KILL BILL was quite good , but its scenario is really simple , though the fights kick as , ant there are many diferent ways of expresion , and far too much japanese ppl in the first one :)

Yeah the colors work well with the site
---BUT---
sometimes the superbanner shows as a normal sized banner... might want to look into it.

Heh, I guess that's what happens when a large portion of the movie takes place in Japan. Weird.

Response to Kill Bill, NGMag 2004-04-14 12:36:09

The banners really do tie in with the new site layout! plus kill bill rox, so...... blah blah blah

I used to be relevant.

Response to Kill Bill, NGMag 2004-04-14 13:09:13

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you, Kill Bill was an awsome movie, and the next one should prove to be even better...I hope. And it is great to see that not everything is done for the money, although money is good, some things should just be done just because you like it.

Response to Kill Bill, NGMag 2004-04-14 13:11:52

I don't know if it has something to do with where I live but ... I think the superbanner of the front page adapts to where the people are located. For instance, I sometimes get banners from french websites and stuff.
And I've never got that "Kill Bill" banner. But I have other stuff, such as Matrix shop.
Anyways.

You made me want to watch Kill Bill. So that's what I'm going to do tonight. Hell yeah.

I play lottery. I always lose.

"It is refreshing to run ads for something that is actually a perfect match for the NG users"

can we loose the anime porn links? :S i always feel so dirty visiting this site. and i have to minimise the window whenever anyone comes in the room, just incase they see the ads and think i'm some kinda sick cartoon 'loving' freak. yeah... thats all... STORM THE ALMIGHTY!!!
