Thanks, I sort of made it up as i went along. The dragon was mostly motion tweened an the guy was frame by frame and i drew the background with a brush tool.

I made a bit more here
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/0b5f f786fc993a6b3ac8cc5b35fc35a2
but unless i get any bright ideas im probably not going to continue it.

your animation skills and techniques are pretty good, but you really need to improve your art. other than that, nice job!

Yo, this is a link

Just finished him. You get to see how shitty my development process is. Hopefully be using this for a game, but it depends how I feel once I've animated something.

I'll keep you posted, lads

The end of the cycle to the beginning is too much of a jump for a single frame, and make it noticeable.

walk cycle test.

just rough keyframes on a perspective walk.

Yep. that's me on liljim and PsychoGoldfish's sigs.

If you think your not good at drawing on general, get a ketch book and draw.
As for proportions, if your able to tell there wrong, keep drawing them until it looks right. For something like this your not stretching and squashing, at least not at this stage, so watching your volumes won't be as difficult. Just make sure when you draw the next frame it has the same volume as the previous one.
make sense?

best way to keep everything in proportion? Split everything up into simple shapes. The first thing they'll teach you at any decent animation school is how to build everything structurally, and with simple shapes.

For example, an oval for the head and/or hip, a squared off round shape for the upper torso, cylinders for the limbs, etc

then after you're done doing the drawing structurally, build them up!

Here is a really short incomplete animatic type thing.
Which should become a finished animation relatively soon.

I definitely think PsychicPebble is under acknowledged on this site. He animates better than Oney in my opinion.

I guess there's no point in lying about it now since I've already released it.

The style was supposed to look like Oney's, that was actually a little tidbit from the ORIGINAL Leo and Satan 5, but we did the School episode RUSHED terribly in 4 days instead for certain reasons I can't talk about, due to legalities. Let's just say a certain studio was supposed to animate the episode with the nun bit, and let's just say said episode won't be released.

We were going to reanimate it and release it but difficulties have come up, so blegh.

Again thanks to everyone that liked it.

wait, did you say you work for a studio? so you are a pro after all, no wonder you animate like you do

also surprised sanity not included empley studios, i thought the guys did all themselves except for the animation bits where they hired just one animator

so can you please tell me how the FUCK to animate stuff? ive read those books, ive practiced and yet...i cant ren nd stimpy, please tell me how 2 ren and stimpy

Haha, thanks a bunch man, glad you enjoyed it. I did it really fast.

Also here was some random FBF/lip synch test I did back last April.

It sucks shit compared to what I can do now, but here it is.

He's saying; "Wait", by the way.

Still it's better than anything I can do xD

Hope I could help.

Final thing that will always and forever help in animation is life drawing. Draw people on the bus, attend sessions at your local art school or community centre, find pictures online, it doesn't matter, just build an understanding of how the human body works and increase your drawing skill at the same time!

Trust me when i say life drawing is the god of the animation industry

People have been posting lotsa walk cycles lately, so I think I'll critique all of them at once with a list or common errors.

1. People have a bit of bounce in their step when they walk. An easy fix is to put the torso up into a symbol and the legs into a different symbol. Then tween a bounce by squashing and stretching the legs at the appropriate keyframes and moving the torso into a matching position without the squash

2. People's feet bend at the ball in their toe before the foot lifts. Good job, zRtC.

3. It's okay to use tweens, and it's fine to copy-paste one leg and use it twice! Really! Don't think we'll criticize you for it!

Here's some walk cycles I made for an upcoming game. Examine away.

Yes, the running one is supposed to have one arm

I did click it, looks good, but a bit stiff, you should look into easing, that will help you a lot I would think. When something is near a stop position, like your arms at the top of their arc tthey should have more frames to slow it down, instead of having the arm just go full speed into the stopped position before falling back down at speed.
Basically, think of it as a car, when a car is accelerating it goes from slow to fast over a time, to show this you have to have it slowly increasing(from more frames to less) and vice versa for the stopping of a car.
Hoped that helped, not sure if I explained it great.

Also here are some pencil tests I did a while back:
Bouncing Ball
Bouncing Head
Pink Panther Walk Cycle
