The genre and icon mod threads have had a HUUUUUGE impact on how the redesign launch will be perceived. Beyond all of the content that will now be properly represented, we've cleaned up a lot of junk content that would have been showing up amongst everything else. I'm really proud of the progress that's been made this year and I like to think it will have a big positive impact on NG moving forward. :)

I agree, it certainly is nice to see a lot of the junk and stolen submissions being cleared out before the next redesign, I'll try and make some of these reports more often (maybe the Genre mod thread can even be brought back to life with time lmao).

I noticed that Fupa was being called into question due to some of their suspicious activities, so I gathered some evidence and here is a brief summary of what I found:

This one is extremely suspicious:

If you'll notice all of the cards used in this game have the logo of NovelGames.com on them, NovelGames originally released this game on their site in 2007 and FUPA hides the copyright info using a bar.(Original Link)

This one was submitted by both novelgames and Fupa (I believe this game was submitted first on NovelGames' site, which explains why Fupa covers the copyrighted info up again)

This game was originally copyrighted by NovelGames in 2008, and basically Fupa covered up the copyright once again by placing a bar over it. YouGame implored a similar tactic when they posted this game on Kongregate.

I have a feeling that Fupa is legitimately licensing these games and replacing the credits, but the whole thing is just yucky and I want NG to represent devs and not junk like this, so I deleted those. The rest fall in the same category as a lot of these "123blah" sweatshops.

Yeah, I doubt many users really come here for the generic dress-up/sweatshop games anyway lol (yet they still pass judgment all the time *sigh*).

You know, I noticed the same thing on a flash at the top of the Funny Cartoons section. Looks like the author did the name change thing Wade mentioned to get old/undeletable flash removed but I guess nobody noticed it was on the front page of collection.

Cleared it off the collection. The annoying thing is the redesign negates these pages anyway so these specific issues won't matter for long, but it's worth cleaning them up since the redesign keeps sinking further back.

Argh, I know what you mean, I've encountered this exact problem as well. I've switched from FireFox to Internet Explorer, which cleared up the problem for the most part (you may also want to try clearing your cache as well).

Concerning issues with changing genres of a submission, this tends to happen but if you refresh the page in a few minutes time, it should have all the information put down, unless your internet spazzes out.

The view pages has cached info and doesn't always update instantly - the change SHOULD ultimately appear on the page later, but that's weird if it's not... I use Chrome and haven't had any issues with genre changes not taking, although the page doesn't always reflect it instantly.

I often do the majority of my modding using my notebook computer (which sucks ass for the most part, due to my internet connection and the computer's capabilities). Lately it hasn't been acting up as much, so no worries.
