The genre mods have been communicating via email for a few months now but it's time to finally take the discussion public and stop clogging our inboxes!

This thread is a place to discuss the updating / changing of genre info, particularly debates and decisions about what genres specific submissions fall into and which tags are best used for particular submissions.

We have set up a list of submissions without genre info, ranked by popularity. Our immediate goal is for nothing with over 100,000 views to be without genre info! When the redesign launches, anything without genre info will not be listed in the GAMES and MOVIES sections.

Bahamut has been maintaining a tagging guide in the Wiki, to serve as reference.

It's good to see the genre mods officially announced at long last! Yes, us genre mods have indeed been communicating via email for a long time now (a year and a bit, actually). I've been quiet about it all this time but I feel I've done a good enough job since then. It even helps when I'm also an icon mod so when I'm watching a flash, not only can I update the genre, I can also give the flash a new icon if it needs one.

And yes, it was I who worked on the tagging wiki. Maybe it needs a few more things mentioned there but if you guys have any suggestions, feel free to mention them and they'll be added if they'll help the authors even more to decide on their tags.

As someone who's been working on genres and tags for over a year now, I'm open to ask any questions I can answer.

Hey tom could i be a genre mod? i really want to contribute to the site but im not good at art or flash so i guess this would be a pretty decent opportunity.

Thanks for making the topic Tom. I don't know exactly how many submission we still need to do before we get below the 100,000 views bar, but if we recruit some more people I'm sure it'll be done fairly quickly.

There is still no Wacky Game Jokez For Kidz series section. So can you please add that into there

The manually-manages game and movie categories will be defunct when the redesign launches. That video currently has the genre info "Music Video", so it will be found in Music Videos when the new site comes.

That is another reason that I would love to join this. Icons and genres would save a lot of time.

As you probably know from my icon and wiki modding that I'm not very good at doing a bunch of work really fast, but that I will do a little bit here and there. I'm always willing to help the site out a little more so if you guys need more help then I'm more then willing to do so. :)

The only reason there are so many icon mods applying is because Bahamut told everyone. And because most icon mods are doing their job to kill time, sorting genres would help kill more time.
