FFVII not because of the Bias even though thats part of it you just seem more pumped with the FFVII over the XIII
Both of them are outstanding, but FF13's violin solo gives it a slight edge in my opinion.
Pft, the man with the machine gun is the way to go. Final Fantasy VIII had one of the stronger soundtracks, despite it being slightly weaker as an overall game than VII and IX.
But on the matter at hand, I find Final Fantasy VII's battle theme more action bumping and overally pretty darn catchy.
Final Fantasy XIII's battle theme however sounds epic with it's more orchestral approach, but the intro is rather too slow for my taste. However, when the theme actually "starts" (around 1:00 mark), it sounds pretty epic with its violin. But the melody itself isn't as catchy as VII's, while it still is memorable.
In overall, I like VII's better. But if I were to decide, I would rank VIII over VII.
final fantasy 7 is the greatest video game of all time. thats all i have to say.
FF6 was garbage. but FF10 was pretty good its practically spiritual to me plus the music kicks ass.

this all over.
The Final Fantasy Piano Collections are incredible.
Actually I take that all back. XIII Sounds more like a soundtrack from Harvest Moon than it does Fearless.
FFVII However sounds a little more something like this.

Thats better than those two songs, but in my opinion, this owns all three of those, and it's just a menu track. it would have been awesome to play this while i was fighting.
Personally, i like FFXll better, Especially at the little violin solo <3
But FFV battle theme pwns everything

Why go argue about the battle themes in that's kind of stupid to compare to them to the older shit that was made 13 years back. Personally it really does not matter because each of the themes for any final fantasy game both had there different points of what make them good.

Persona 4's battle theme beats them both.

Naw. That's the same guitar riff repeating itself. Persona 4's song has more variety and is way too catchy. It's even better in game when you're hearing the characters talk and cheer each other on while they're fighting. It works so perfectly.

But is catchy, that's only that important battle theme. The normal battle theme is almost as catchy, but same as repetitive.
SMT has way better music that FF by the way.
I think FF7 has a better battle theme, simply because it's something I would like to hear when battling. I do not want to be confronted by an orchestra while I am killing monsters, thank you.

Hmm Honestly I thought like most of the music Uemitsu wrote mainly for the series like after final fantasy 10 seemed a little okayish to be honest because if you've listened to alot the music he had made since the beginning they're were alot more whimsical with the emotionional atmosphere going behind them at some points they have some pretty humorous scores. Now it seems like he's trying a little to hard trying to make his themes seem Epicish.

I agree with this. I think Final Fantasy VIII had the best soundtrack out of the Final Fantasy games I've played.
If I had to choose between FF7 and FF13 though, I'd go for FF13 because I always like orchestrated music and FF7's battle theme was one of my least favorite actually.
I dunno if this is an original idea or not, but I think it would be cool if you could go into "options" and change the battle music to previous Final Fantasy's. I don't think it would be that hard to implement, but it would definitely satisfy the wants for certain hardcore FF fans. I mean, who wouldn't want to hear the background music of their favorite Final Fantasy?

I rarely listen to music while gaming, it makes me lose focus

Aha.
So it's too hard to use your ears then.

FF7 was the first one I liked, but FF8 has the best soundtrack. FF13, I haven't really played that, but the music just sounds like all the other games for the most part, so it's not a fair debate. FF7 wins just for being made more than ten years earlier and for a more limited system.
These type of threads are pointless and never get resolved.
With that said, Persona 3 Final Boss Theme is where it's at.
