Really, Germany has exceeded my (and everyone's) expectations. Sure, Australia doesn't have a great team, but they are being steam-rolled over! Plus, Cacau scored, and he was born in Brazil, so yay! :P

So far this is the best game of the tournament. Typical of Germany to humilliate thier opponents on their first game. Maybe if Australians spent less time bitching over nonexistant offsides, they could concentrate on playing football.

Congrats to our neighbors on this flawless victory. You guys have been the only ones thus far who have not disappointed (beside South-Korea maybe).

Also, this is definitely the most enjoyable match of the WC until now. I'm hoping for a fifth, or a 4-1 maybe to make the 'socceroos' look less embarrassing.

the way i see it the top teams will be:

Germany, since they have a good history with 3 world cups and they always make it pretty far.
Brazil, since they have 5 world cups and have appeared in every world cup(i might be wrong on that one)
South Korea they looked really good in the last game they played
England because i'm a fan

Yeah that's the way i feel with england, though it's not just blind optimism with england, we have some good players and Green just made a critical slip up...

Well that was impressive, all the more reason for England to go all out attack against Algeria on Friday and do everything they can to get top spot. Hopefully Germany won't look so good against more physical sides in Ghana and Serbia.

I hate to say it, but without Cahill the Aussies are as good as gone. It will be a miracle if they can recover from that to beat the other two sides in the group.

We have already had the luck with the draw. If we top our group we avoid all of the tournament favourites until the semi finals. Meanwhile Germany will have to get past Argentina in the quarters (we'll have one of South Korea, France, Mexico, Uruguay etc.). Our tough match would be round two against (most likely) Ghana. I'm still confident we can make the semis.

I hope Netherlands win against Denmark tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a match Germany against Netherlands later in the tournament. There's nothing better if Germany wins against Netherlands in the finals. :P

Germany-Australia was definitely an improvement on previous games like everyone's been saying.

There's not much more I can add. It's good that Germany were just as interested as playing further after taking the lead rather than just leaving it as, erm, certain other teams seemed to have done. Australia have it in them to do better against Serbia and Ghana I think, but losing Cahill was no good (I think the ref generally made the right decision, going by the tougher rules being implemented) - they need to work around that. That early chance of theirs could've changed the game somewhat, but the Germans were always going to be the better side here. I'd put them high on my predictions table.

I think the second place has blown quite wide open in Group D though.

Also, was this the first time in the tournament a ref went after players for what they seem to be referring to as 'simulation'? It worked, in my opinion. It was more enjoyable to watch when they weren't trying to break into acting constantly.

Best game of the tournament so far. Germany is looking pretty strong, great team as always.

And finally, vuvuzelas have been banned from stadiums, due to Tv broadcasters complains.
I really dont mind the noise, but I'm pretty sure people there was sick about them, heard about people with really bad headaches, and about players struggling to hear their coach instructions.

Germany's looking very good as usual, looking foward for Portugal, Brazil, Italy and Netherlands.
Looks like England's needing to tighten up a bit though. USA had a lucky goal, but you can't have one of those all the time, so it doesn't really make them any better, let's just see how they deal with Algeria and Slovenia though, I bet they'll make it to the 8ths though.
