Maybe we should keep a list like that on a news post ...so it can be updated with additions, and links removed when they're done... just until tom starts doling out the lists (if that's still the plan). Fun it may be but I'd hate to see it. To me, it's no contest or anything. I don't care how many icons others have made, I'll just do my own bit at my own pace rather than competing for making the most icons. I might keep track on the list of authors I've done for future reference but that'll be it for me.

I would like to see a page like this as well. We'll eventually get to the bottom of the barrel for making new icons and a page telling us which flashes still need new icons would be brilliant.

Besides, I also think that making a list for us to compete is a bad idea. First of all, we're doing this to help Newgrounds. If someone doesn't agree with this, then he/she shouldn't have become an icon mod in the first place. We shouldn't keep track of the icons we make unless it is for informational purposes only, and we shouldn't care about the amount of icons done by other people.

Secondly, if this is became a competition, some people would start to submit a lot of crappy icons just to boost their amounts of icons submitted, which would be counterproductive, considering that our goal is to provide Newgrounds with quality icons. This does not only help to make the transition into the oncoming redesign smoother, but it also makes the site look better.

That being said, I really hope that we're kept in the dark about how many icons each person makes, the same way that we cannot see our whistle points.

We do track who submits what icons so ultimately I hope to have a page that shows what everyone did. It's just bad timing to push for that because the next site update has everyone under a lot of pressure / stress right now.

To put it all in context... The icon helpers page was made by liljim and currently isn't working properly even for the old icon type. The new icon submission system was made by Rob, who does things in a very different way than liljim. To update the old icon helpers page would either involve liljim getting up to speed on how Rob is handling the new icons, or Rob potentially rewriting the entire system to mesh with what he has done for the site update. Either way we can't prioritize it right now because there is a lot of work to do if we're ever gonna see the next site update, and a lot of other features are in a holding pattern until the next update happens.

Ultimately it would be cool to get it working again, but every little feature and adjustment pushes everything else back by days / weeks / months.

Valid concerns about having a leaderboard... I definitely don't want to see the icon quality get crappy in an attempt to have the most icons. I'll say it's all up in the air for now - just make icons for the good of making them and feel welcome to share your lists because it's fun to see everyone get filled in. It's good to feel proud of the icons you've made and I don't think anyone has been acting hyper-competitive about it, it feels more like a show-and-tell vibe to me.

I'm gonna do a few in the center of FWG so maybe everyone can meet in the middle.

One bummer is these pages only show primary ownership submissions and not co-authored stuff which is what most of AG has... Showing co-authors would help get through more stuff, but I dunno if I want to drag Rob back into that code AGAIN since this is a mostly temporary feature and he's on to bigger stuff.
