They're more adapted for skateboarding and won't wear out as quick, and will also be much more comfortable while skateboarding.
Overall they perform better and look better on your feet.
2.more/less grip in ways
3. made to come in contact with grip tape
i Prefer Emerica or ES
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons.
they don't tear as much.

I had a pair of skate shoes back in the day.
They're really comfortable; that's the advantage.
There are times I wonder and times I don't; I think you fall into the latter.
They will molest you, they will make you lose the ability to carry on your family name, they will rip open your "Gouche", they will make said "Gouche" bleed, they will make your friends say Emerica, Adio, and Vans are more important then calling an ambulance, and they will stare in to your soul. For as long as you gaze into the abyss, the abyss also gazes back at you. In your soul. SO DON'T BUY ANY MOTHERFUCKING SKATE SHOES.

The legendary moon boots! I loved watching kids bail out on a trick, only to trip over their gigantic shoes when they landed on their feet. Truly magnificent comedy.
I heard they were later issued to prisoners for a short time, in order to discourage escape attempts.

They are A LOT better than skating with your regular casual shoes. They grip onto the board better and if you slip off from a fall or something, try to stop yourself with the shoes and they will make this screeching sound that sounds like when a car makes a hard brake. Fucking awesome.
I have a pair of Nike SB's, which I recommend if you got the money.
it's all fashion bullshit, just wear what feels good, even if it happens to be skate shoes. though i doubt anyone actually prefers those after the foot pain sets in. i'll take my nikes over any skate shoe any day. they're sweatshop made, but... those underpaid slave labor know how to make a good shoe

Well, surprisingly enough my feet barely have an arch to them so basketball shoes and the like aren't comfortable anymore. I love the colors and designs skate shoes come in as well, I mean usually basketball shoes or other shoes are really colorful and bright, whereas I have an all-black pair of air speeds and I love them. They're very comfortable, soft, and they fit me perfectly. And, to top it all off, a nice pair of skate shoes are inexpensive and go with any outfit. All I wear is black, and with a black, comfy pair of skate shoes it fits me completely.

trust me, when you skate, they have way more grip, and its easier to do fliptricks
Well obviously if you're skating they're going to get you more grip and they'll also be more durable and comfortable for skating in. I also think skate sure tend to look better than most other shoes. I've been wearing nothing but skate shoes (with the exception of boots when I'm doing work or when there's a significant amount of snow on the ground.) for the past 11 years.

Only on a skateboard. Otherwise, much less grip.
This too will pass.
The main reason people get them is because they look cool and it is some sort of fad. Or if you actually skate, it makes your more stable on the board.
I used to get nike SB's now I only wear Lebron's or Jordan's. Just wear whats comfortable and cool for you.

Wow, I guess that I've secretly been looking for attention. It has nothing to do with comfort I'm guessing?

I don't skate but I sometimes wear my old pair of skate shoes.
They are so god damn comfortable. It's like wearing pillows on my feet.
