I'm not going to welcome you because I'm being a non-conformist but i like your sketch work both this piece and the stuff on your page. Keep it up!
the best works are done supa-fast!
Housecoat Neck Juts...
I think that's a pretty cool pic, I like the whole sketchy look for pictures and paintings.

Hopefully I'll get smooth solid lines down soon. Thanks
I really like this, it reminds me of old saturday morning cartoons.
An older drawing of mine. I think it needs improvement but guess it's alright. A lot of these will be from my dA account.
In the risk of reviving this nausea-inducing cesspool of a thread, I will try to upload recent works that I have created, starting with this:
--self-portrait: drawn November 2012, 2B graphite on sketch paper The ears are slightly dislocated, you know, just to keep you on your toes.
--Untitled: March 2013, Flash cs6. I wanted to try to imitate the woodcut printing look, so here's the result of that

Pretty good way to bump a 2 year dead thread

MOAR!
I'll be uploading some studies from my life drawing class. Here's a skeletal/ muscular overlay study to start off.
And another. A bit sloppy but still clearly shows the model's pose
here's an inkwash drawing with an early attempt at utilizing pattern
On this one, I initially started with vine charcoal, then moved up to compressed charcoal, then applied ink wash to the paper, which created some surprising texture to the foliage
here's some more drawings I've done over the semester: a plant study in between classes
some drawings of deeded body parts in the medical building at the university.
last drawing i did near the end of the semester
These are great. So many people pursue contour like their life depends on it and it usually screws them up. These are a great example of what sketches can be- really running across shapes of things until you find the defining parts.
Reviving a dead thread AGAIN:
Here's a WIP of something I started last night. It was just supposed to be a quick practice piece for blocking in color, but now that I've spent more time than I intended on it, I might as well make a finished work for my skimpy digital portfolio.
As of right now the main problem I'm trying to figure out is whether to pursue more linear details for things like fingers and overlapping elements, or to focus more on massing areas of dark.
Honestly I should've had a background blocked in before I started doing detailed work.
Thoughts?
Holy crap. People are still responding to this thread today it's like a miracle!

Current Progress:
Added darker areas to the character and started blocking in some more background elements. Bit of a busy [no wifi access] weekend, so might be a couple days before I post again.
So it reached a point where I could call it finished and can move on to another work.
Hey I really like this. It has a bit of a storybook illustration look to it. It has a lot of charm. Simple, yet effective. ;)
