Must admit that the panhandlers near the F train can be annoying. Even more annoying are the drunk-ass gamblers who hang out all day and night at the OTB right in front of the 179th station. Drunk, loud, fighting-with-each-other, every fucking day. Sad -ass old-timers. They're like one major gambling loos away from being homeless ... Then they take up residence a few feet away on the same corner.

Also, I've been thinking about the alternate location that was proposed. Meeting at the ass-end of Manhattan near Water street, instead of Bryant park. You organized this, so it's up to you. There's a few historical spots near Water street. But yeah, more fun stuff near Bryant park.

I'll most likely take everyone down to Water Street eventually anyway--it just won't be the initial meet up spot. I briefly toyed around with making the initial meet location at Liberty Plaza Park on Church Street and Liberty Street or just anywhere along South Street, but then I finally settled with Bryant Park because I thought it'd be easier for most people to get to, especially considering that a few people coming to this meet have never stepped foot in NYC before.

I might actually go to this one I originally thought it was in December, but now that it's later I can secure some money for it. A bus ticket is so bad and I think I can save a hundred bucks, or so for other fun things. The only thing that would bother me is a hotel. I don't want to pick one that's far away from someone (if anyone wants to share a hotel room to save a few bucks towards Luis' tequila fund I'm fine with that). Also I might need to picked up from the bus station. Anyway idk what will happen in the foreseeable future it being so far away, but count me in as of today.

When we get to the financial district, I can point out the spot of the worst terror attack of the last century in NYC. Before 9/11, there was 9/16 (1920).

It's ironic that people walk by the site everyday, and have no clue. You know where to look, you can still see the signs of the destruction.

Exactly, and it's right over on the southeast corner of Wall Street and Broad Street. The damage from the bombing almost 90 years ago is indeed still there and I last walked past the building sometime this past spring.

Just wondering if anyone else can make it to this meet or if any plans have changed.

Well...?

The Aquarium? Why?

I can think of so many better things to do around the city.

I can think of limitless other things to do in NYC as well, such as getting your balls whacked by the deadly rip tides along the Rockaways, smoking weed and drinking in the Staten Island Greenbelt, hitting up various strip clubs in the South Bronx...you get the idea.

On a more serious note, here are things I can think off the top of my head that we won't be doing: going on top of the Empire State Building, going to Liberty Island, riding any tour buses, and going on expensive horse drawn carriage rides in Central Park.

I can still make it. But there has to be at least two other, older, NGers who'll be there. Otherwise, I'm going to look like that creepy guy you read about in shitty horror stories.

Well Luis is going to be there and besides Danny and a few others I believe the majority of the people attending are in the 18-25 range. So fear not my friend. Besides I will probably still outcreep you.

So here's the deal: I'm considering attending this meet, but the distant date makes it difficult to promise availability of funds and time. Malachy would like to carpool with me, which'd be cool as shit since I haven't seen him since MTL meet '08.

HOWEVER, if someone cool who lives in NYC has a spare 7' x 2' slot of floorspace in their residence that I could crash on, it'd make it a lot more likely that I could afford to attend.

We'll see.

About $34 or $35 per person and usually they'll expect additional tips on top of that. Plus, each carriage is restricted to 4 adults. You can see much more of Central Park and get a lot more out of going there if you just walk by foot--going on a carriage ride is, simply put, a waste of money.

I wrote per person by accident...it's really per carriage. But yeah, even then, it's still rape nonetheless.

I'm like 90% going. My real concern is finding someone to take the subway with me (i'm thinking my IRL friend who goes on ng sometimes). and also a room. since I'm only going to be 20 at the time, it usually takes 21 year olds to rent rooms. so im concerned about that...=/ i can pay or split a room but id rather do it with someone im comfortable with and not someone whos going to try to violate me in the middle of the night...without my consent ;D lulz. but seriously idk wat to do

but otherwise i have money and time so ill be going until proven otherwise

Also, if you're not familiar with the NYC subway system, have a look at this subway map and try to familiarize yourself with it. It's not nearly as intimidating as it might look like at first.

Remember, to get to the meetup site: take the B, D, F or V to 42nd and Bryant Park, or the 7 to 5th Avenue and exit at 6th Avenue. Most likely there will be a few subway trips throughout the meet, especially since we might go to Brooklyn on the 2nd day.

All I can say is I will be there one way or another...

There are plenty if junk we can do for free... Personally I think we could go to central park. lots of junk there, Giant rocks to climb, trees, picnic areas. If you want to run around an make asses of yourself there is no better place then there. I could only ask is that we not to travel around to much. unless you plan on renting a van or something going all around town will be half our budgets. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bike there LOL!

come to think of it you should try to get a van or something. Hell if well all pitch in somehow you should!

There's a shitload of hidden cameras in Central Park. Cops use them to keep an eye on folks. Can't recall when I first heard that. But one day, I decided to test it out. Sure enough, after 10 minutes of acting very suspiciously, a police van pulled up. I casually got up from where I was sitting, and just walked away. The van left as soon as I did.

So yeah, don't act up too much.

It's true that there are a lot of hidden cameras around Central Park. Central Park is the most visited park in the entire country and has its own NYPD precinct, plus plenty of cops in certain areas--both regular NYPD cops and officers in the Parks Enforcement division.

Also, this is what the attendee list looks like so far from what I've gathered after a quick run through the thread:

DannyJay (definitely)
Valz (definitely)
STEM (maybe)
Luxury-Yacht (maybe)
Timmy (maybe for one day)
Luis (maybe, possibly very likely)
Monocrom (looks pretty official to me)
Kevin (maybe)
Grub-Xer0 (definitely)
scottmale24 (very likely, it looks to me)
OneGunn (very likely)
BareNakedMike (maybe)
mamatequila (maybe)
Nakoruru (maybe)
TheStarSyndicate (looks pretty definite)
michelinman (maybe)
Parlux (maybe, and I already met him twice, but he better behave himself)
Twilight (very likely, and he already had a mini-meet with me this past Wednesday)
Shikamarana (maybe)
Kitala (90% chance...seems pretty good to me)
JoSilver (definitely)
DELUCA2400 (looks likely)
FBIpolux (maybe)
Evark (maybe)
mandamay (maybe; she didn't post in this thread but demonstrated interest over the phone and via MSN and Stickam)
life (maybe; he told me via AIM he may be able to make it)

Also, a bunch of people coming to this seem to want to bring friends or siblings along to the meet, whether they're NGers or not. I'm perfectly fine with that, though I just hope they don't feel that out of place.
