Apparently style, personality and fame are the biggest factors in their rankings. Otherwise the list would be loaded with a bunch of progmetal guitarists no one would have heard of. I don't really have a problem with that, there are a million supertalented guitarists but only a very few memorably famous ones.

But I'd still rank Petrucci slightly higher than that.

That list is horrible...
Satriani, Vai, Becker, Friedman, and Yngwie should be fighting for the #1, all those other guys are good, yea, but come on! These guys blow them out of the water!

jimi hendrix at 12!!?!??!!???!?! what the fuck?? who made this chart? and page only at number 6???????? i repeat: what the fuck???

this chart's bullshit. sorry i'm disgusted that the lord and master of the universe jimi hendrix came 12th... i'm sickened. im going to go and throw up out the window now...

popularity is irrelevent when measuring greatness, if this thread was called 100 most popular Heavy Metal Guitarists, i wouldnt be so sickened, because soaps are popular but you cant call any soap 'great' can you?

*barf out of window*

It wasn't quite metal guitarists was it. Joe Satriani isn't quite in the metal genre.
He should be miles up that list like in top 10, him and Steve Vai kick ass.
Though the list does basically have all th best guitarsits( but how could you miss some since its the top 100!!) the order is pretty balls. I didn't see Santana's name either (I know he's not metal but nor is quite a few others)

Jimmi Page and Hendrix should be higher up.

Dude!! You missed jimi hendrix!

Jimmi Hendrix was 12th Duh! but you probably only browsed in the top 10 to find him, which is fair enough.

Response to 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists 2004-02-23 12:47:25

queens of the stone age guitarists?

Response to 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists 2004-02-23 14:37:34

Yngwie Malmsteen should be much higher than 17th. And although Iommi is really good, I don't think he's the best that there ever was. Hetfield and Hammet was a good choice, but I would say about 7th or so, not 2nd. But, this isn't my list oh well.

I used to be with it. Then they changed what it was.

Now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

It'll happen to you!
