He's like the physical manifestation of every hateful thought anyone has ever had.

he was a great man and of course i feel sorry that he had to go so early and on such a bad charge but unfortunately he has no one but himself to blame. drug addictions can be helped if your willing to step up. May he find the peace he so obviously sought in those drugs in his afterlife.

It is always sad when an artists of any accomplishment passes....but,from being a NG memeber for a while and unofficial before that (to lazy to make a account) it occurs to me that being in the midpoint of my life it seems that while i shall enjoy many fond memories in the remaining days of my life and the exhiliration such things bring. I have found that most people i grew up finding funny, comical, innnovative, and the people that lived there dreams as they saw fit will pass away far before the end of my days. That being said i would like to state that only as of late had i watched bens animations and to my enjoyment i loved all of them. Like most things on newgrounds i recognize/view them far to late from when it comes out, but after watching the stick slayer series etc, It is shurley a sad day when an immagination such as this is lost. You shall be remembered by myself for certain(for what good that's worth lol) and im shure by countless others.

ps: I wanted to write this sober but really couldnt find the words.....so iv'e inbibed some of grandpas old cough medicine to smoooth the process. My regards to ben and condolenscenses to his family...................Good Journey (in the words of masters of the universe)

Rest well Ben Spurgin, mighty slayer of stickmen. For we all know there is a special place where stickmen cower in fear and await the doom that they so deserve.

My condolences to his family. I am sorry for his death, but I still cannot treat him as a hero.

I don't think anywhere is it stated he was a hero, its was a good guy, a good friend and had an amazing imagination. Stop reading into things.

Nothing will ever be more irrelevant than the negative opinions on this thread. If you were Ben's friend, then you think differently than the masses just waiting to drop self-righteous comments about how he died to make themselves feel better about the way they live their lives. As far as Ben's role in NG...he was a pioneer of some amazing series that people copied endlessly, as well as the holder of the #1 ALL TIME spot with Pimp's Quest before half of you guys knew what Newgrounds was. That's why he's being paid tribute to on the front page. It's really that simple.

Response to Ben Spurgin, 1977-2009 2009-10-27 16:25:56

That's really sad that he died that young. I shall pay my full tribute to him & his flashes.

I am deeply sorry for this loss not only does this affect the all time lovers of stick slayer but many people who were close to ben let us remember how he affected all of our lives ='[

rest in peace dude, you'll be remembered...

He made his decisions, he was a good man, just made a wrong choice, just goes to show what can happen.. It's sad that people are dissing him. How low have THEY sunk...

I never knew him, though I may have seen one of his animations.

Rest in peace, Ben.
