Well, could we at LEAST memorialise the ones who didn't get into a school shooting or a gunfight with cops before they offed themselves? That's the decent way to go, after all. (not being sarcastic, even though it might sound like sarcasm right there...)

R.I.P., Ben. You were about to turn the same age as me in another week or so... I lost my best friend *(and his mom/brother to a drunk driver) when I was in 7th grade, so it's not like death of a peer is something I haven't experienced before, but... it's always unsettling when the people near your age (or younger) start to drop. I didn't know Ben, but I saw a few of his flashes way back in 2001-2003ish... really sucks that so many artists from the past 10 years of NG history are already gone, and here's another one to add to the list.

Deep cliched shit: Birth's a mystery. Death's just something we have to deal with, of course. Living's that awkward thing in between.

Well... some of us want attention, others just want to share in some company with fellow weirdos. I suppose part of sharing the company of people like you is... getting attention from them, but you also give attention back to them.

But yes, if you want to be reductive, it's all one big attention-whoring circlejerk, to be cynical about it.

But I challenge you to find a website with ways for its members to communicate that ISN'T, so... yeah. NG. Rock on. #;-}>

i'm actually writing up a goodbye doc for someone to post on my page when i'm gone

Do you expect to be gone soon, or is that a "just in case" LastWillAndTestament-ish type preparation you're taking?

RIP Ben
There are certainly more bitter deaths than to die by an opiate overdose.

I would love to have a memorial page...even if it might seem kinda morbid to outsiders.

Simply remembering his animations I watched in 2005 and seeing his very recent blog post, it makes me very sad to know he is gone; even more so for the cause of his death and being so young :(

RIP Ben

an heroine overdose.

It's really sad to see stuff like this happening, although it is quite a warm feeling to see that so many people are remembering him, even without knowing him.

I guess that those who knew him must be filled with frustration tho...

I'm saddened to hear of this. I would like to send condolences to his family. The Newgrounds Memorial Page would be a great idea to honor great artists.

Quiet down, I,m just here to kill you.

Frankly, I don't feel sorry for him. It's his fault. Or, atleast, that's what I heard. If it was heroine overdose, then that's one less addict to arrest.

Wow, this is truly a pity.
I've heard of so many bad things happening from heroin, and they all make for sad stories.
I wish it could have gone differently, and I offer my condolences to his family and friends.
RIP.

I should have mentioned in my earlier posts that I loved Ben's PEE MAN series most of all. There were only 3 movies in it, so that's probably why people aren't mentioning it anywhere near as much as they're now mentioning Stick Slayer or Pimp's Quest, which yes... were more famous...

... But PEE MAN will always be what I remember him for, most of all. I'm sad there's no possibility of a PEE MAN IV, too... but what a great trilogy that is as it stands now. How lucky we are to have been graced by those peeful flashes. Long live PEE MAN.

(ahem)...

How do you feel that your son died of a Heroin Overdose?

I dunno, and I doubt she's gonna tell you... but if I had a kid as talented as him who died of a drug overdose, I'd probably feel like I wish my kid hadn't died before I did, and had gotten to share his talent with even more people than he did before he ODed, but... I'd remember the best parts of our life together and the best parts of him or her and I'd try not to feel guilty for how I raised him or her. And I'd be glad that he or she had dedicated fans who enjoyed the work produced by the talent within my kid.

How does YOUR mom feel that you go around asking the mothers of dead 31-year-old artists how they "feel" about their songs dying due to a drug overdose? Asshole.

(the above isn't really only directed at this guy, BTW, it's at all of you self-righteous little punks who can't stop screaming "OMG HEROIN IS BAD, HE DIED, OMG, ROT IN HELL, HE DESERVED IT, ETC." Keep on judging, judging, judging, like the little fake religious people you were probably raised to be by your asshole parents, guys. I'm sure you'll NEVER receive any comeuppance later in life or anything... nah... karma ain't a bitch or anything... nahhhhh...)

:::facepalms::: I guess my fingers are way more used to typing "songs" than "sons." Whoops. O_o

I'm pretty sure the pricks at whom I was directing that vitriol will get the point, though. When I posted earlier, I'd read the first two pages. I just read the other 8-9 pages just now and... yeah, felt like saying something on the subject.

tl;dr:

Let the man rest in peace already.

I don't think how he dies really matters. Drug addict or not, he was really young. Sure it wasn't the wisest choice but at least feel sorry and have some respect for his family. They lost a loved one.
