Howdy.
You remember the only decent scene in Star Wars 2 is the 3 alien monster fight ... in an arena?
Then there's the scene at the end of the Coneheads movie with the monster and the golfball ... in an arena?
And you've got the bit the Star Wars 6 where Luke fights another monster ... in an arena*?

If you know what I'm talking about, you've got a decent grasp of what I'm looking for!

This week's funkadelic theme: ARENA MONSTER!!!
Design a monster intended for gladiator battles against humans/other similar monsters

Deadline: Sunday, 17th May

THIS WEEK ONLY GUIDELINES
NO:
Hand held weapons and full-length body armour; use your imagination.
YES: Body weapons/cannons; naturally grown armour.
YES(ish): Strapped on blades, occasional shin guard (BUT THE FOCUS IS ON THE MONSTER AS THE WEAPON)

THE EVER-IMPORTANT RULES
- Only one entry per user will go through to the vote thread.
- You cannot post your old work.
- No human likeness.
- No existing animals.
- No obvious combinations animals (ie. no bears with Russel Crowe nailed on).
- A description for your creature is recommended, but not necessary.
- No MS Paint.
- All other Art Forum rules apply.

If you're feeling inspired for future COW ideas, PM me, TurkeyOnAStick, with your theme, and you'll make me jump for joy.

*OK, it's a pit, same thing

There We Go :)

This Creatures Name Is Zybore
Its front two arms contain a thick flesh used for defending itself
and uses its back arm like a large battering ram to cause large scale damage to its opponent

It's got it going on!
I especially like the face, and the red secondary lighting really enhances the purple skin.

Hey I just posted a character on another thread, I posted it today, so I wanted to know whether you could accept that creature?

Nah. Mainly because if it's what I think it is it's too ambiguous and doesn't fit the theme well enough. But it's cos COW/ChOW threads are for providing ideas and creating something new, rather than another thread to repost your art in.

your 3D model is rather neat

Oh I really wasn't trying to repost my art. But it's cool and thanks, I really wanted to be a part of this since I love creating original creatures and characters. :)

These are old lines, you don't have to include this because of this but I have never used them and I wanted to give colouring on my new tablet a go.

Its pretty looking so I don't know if it fits the guidelines but I thought I'd post it anyway. I suck at backgrounds lol.

And lighting!

Timmus

This creature has a great advantage near heat so it likes to combat its foes near volcanoes or lava, when it is closer to heat an inferno envelopes its body making impervious to touch and giving it a greater advantage over its opponent.

Because of its structure and size it is very slow, but its strikes are deadly.

Hmmm sorry about the WIP but I thought I'd just post this, I'm going to start working without the lines and try and develop the character more.

Looks alot different without the lines.

The Cratainian Ratbird
This little creature is hardly any match for a gladiator on it's own, but toss in a few hundred of it's freinds and you have a gore fest of pure epicness. The Ratbird comes in over 60 different colours and is sure to spice up the half time show. Brilliant way to get rid of rebels and those enoying "freedom-fighters"..

Ok as i said i would post soming, here we go... (im a bit streched for time.... i wish i could have spent more >.<)

Behold - we send forth the longtoothed fluffalump!...

( the longtoothed fluffalump is a common breed, mostly used in cattle for its thick fur, only the males grow horns and they are very rarely angred, they do fight over females with deadly lock on colisions, they are quick but simple minded, only if injured or fead fresh meat do they become frenzyed... and become highly agressive... fluffalumps are used in childrens tales as well as in combat areas... they are very agile but while their thick fur means their vision is poor, let alone their hearing, they are still feared creatures in a small area, they will lock on to you and charge at lighting speeds, athough their horns do minor damage, people have been known to be killed from lunge punchers as well as braindamage and blindness from getting the end through the eye.

Come on ya wee beastie... OH SHIAGHHHhhhhhUuauuUUuuhhhnnnnn... ug... a...e....

Ciao

doesn't that go against the rule of No Human Likenesses?
don't mean to be a spoil sport, but it is Creature of the week after all.

Gonna be forgiving, since it does kind of resemble a balrog, it looks as though it has a bestial intelligence, and even my examples are vaguely humanoid.

Motherlord

Not as fast as the little ones for it's shear size and weight, but the deadly spikes and the horn makes it almost impossible for others to get a close ranged attack. It's belly area is so hard and thick almost nothing can penetrate. It does a special attack from it's eyes to temporally put the enemy in an out of reality state. Finally it's said that this creature has a bite force of over 100 crocodiles.

Yeah this was more an experiment for me with my new tablet so if its too human don't worry about it.

And the balrog thing, lol I wasn't really thinking about that at the time but yeah more trying to think what those demons in doom would look like in HD lol.

There are some cool creatures popping up.

ThinXIII I love the eyeball on your creature it looks mad, I could picture versing this creature in a game too, sweet as.
