As usual I'm lagging behind the forums in announcing this, but Castle Crashers has won XBLA Game of the Year!

185,000 XBox Live members voted and we snagged three awards: Game of the Year, Best Original Game and Best Co-Op Mode!

Here's the official announcement.

Being so entrenched in Newgrounds and Flash, I tend to feel like an outsider in both the mainstream and indie gaming circles. I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone here at NG who was so supportive over the years while CC was in development, as well as to everyone who bought CC when it finally came out! YOUR SUPPORT MAKES ALL THIS POSSIBLE!!!

Awesome work Tom, Dan and everyone at The Behemoth, those awards are thoroughly deserved. It's great to see Castle Crashers do so well because like most NGers I'd been watching it grow and grow from it's conception to finally playing it and it just makes it that much better to feel like a part of the community.

CC was a huge improvement from AH. Now we have to see if The Behemoth can keep on putting on these new 2D classics.

Looking at the sales charts it seems that 550k + people have purchased Castle Crashers and the game has made roughly $8,304,829.

I just played Castle Crashers for the first time a few nights ago. It was fun, although my buds were several levels higher than me by the time we got to the wedding stagecoach thing.
