Now complain here.
Truly a game in the loosest sense of the term. Not since Tic Tac Toe, and it's insufferable draws have I found a game to be this shoddy in design.
Besides the programmer seemingly rushing this through, and not caring much about an alpha nor any playtesting, the game boasts stupid difficulty. Now, to understand, this is different from hard difficulty which requires proper skill to play. But Jonas! He directly states this is a twitch reflex game! He says its meant to wring 'or' balls. Indeed, however, I offer a counter opinion.
This game programmer failed all levels of his game design class, and has a hard on for Devil May Cry, this does not give him a license to make a sloppy homage rivaling the worst the Portal has to offer, in misunderstanding both difficulty and design attempting to pass off the failings of both as
Let's go through a laundry list of issues with the game together!
Starting the game is a small pain in of itself, as the story presents itself in a click and drag fashion for both the text, and the comic page for each chapter. The text runs off the page, forcing the user to drag back and forth to read complete sentences. Huh? Why is the author merely just not using a scroll box at this point? The comic is a black and white hodge podge of mediocre art, poor writing, and poor layout.
The story it tells in general seems to fall near the same universe as Devil May Cry, however, it's not over the top stylish, it's under the table buffoonery. Imagine if you will, all the actors of a local comedy troupe are told to mimic an action movie as poorly as possibly, and afterwards, attempt to write how they felt in a dramatic plot twisting story. That thought you just had is twenty times better than what we are dealing with here.
Instead of going the simpler route of having a slide show, it's obvious the author is attempting to multitask, and bring us into his world through his various comic pages which he also drew. Perhaps he fancies himself an artist in that sense, because he clutters up the page letting us know that he did the art right under the box. On top of this, he used the text input portion of flash, causing the text to shake when the grabbed and moved. Fantastic.
We have an art portal. We have really good artists. Team up with them and produce a clickable comic page of your drawings at that point. It seems though, our intrepid author didn't have the time, or merely couldn't be bothered to ask others about what the game's output was like before releasing it.
Instead, it was harried into the wild, full of bugs, glitches, and terrible game play.
Brilliant move making the weapon that is unlockable just skip back to frame 1 during cycle through, instead of actually caring enough to code in a proper unlock.
Honestly, I could drone for hours about how piss poor this game is, and how it would be decent if it were an Alpha, but ultimately, I'll let you guys bitch about it here.
BLAH.
