Gasoline + Styrofoam = napalm? 2008-12-06 23:28:52

I have heard that when gasoline and styrofoam mix they make something similar to napalm. It would be awesome if it does...

Do It Yourself. Usually used when talking about projects that usually require professional work, but can be done amaturely.

Do It Yourself. DIY

I've heard that styrofoam and gasoline makes napalm. But it doesn't really, just some goop that burns for a long time. It's not as expansive as napalm. It burns really well, but so does straight gasoline so it's really not that much of a surprise.

If you have bunch of styrofoam and want to try something cool with chemicals, get a little bit of acetate and push a styrofoam cup into it. It will dissolve, but not completely. Keep pushing styrofoam cups into the small jar of acetate (paint thinner?) until no more will dissolve.

Whatever you have left in the jar feels amazing. If you squeeze it, your hand feels wet, but by the time you open it al the liquid has evaporated, and you can see an endothermic reaction take place on your hand. I used to do this all the time whenever my chem teacher would let me in highschool.
