I just got back from lectures and the cleaning lady has been in my room. She tidied all my stuff and hoovered the floor. It feels really weird that this person I don't know has been going round cleaning my stuff.

Pretty good so far, been given quite a lot of work though, its a big step-up from College in the UK.

That's probably a good idea. As useful as a part time job can be, you can't forget to keep up with your class work. One of my roommates last year did that, and as far as I was concerned, he was paying an awful lot of money to work a shit job.

That's pretty mental, but I generally found first year to be a breeze for the most part. I have about 11 weeks of teaching and then exams, so really you're only 2 weeks in front of me, which I'd say is doable. I guess on the bright side they probably can't test you on as much stuff because there's no way they could cram 20 weeks worth of lectures into 9 weeks.

Few days into living with new housemates after living by myself last year. Daily life seems to consist of getting up at around 10, wandering into town to buy food for later (we have fuck all fridge or freezer space so can't stock up), watching antiques shows until the quiz shows come on, watching Coutdown, The Chase, Pointless and Eggheads, and then they had out to play darts and then go on the drink, and I retreat to my room to watch TV and play video games.

It's a hell of a lot better than living in the shed I did last year.

Not in college yet, but I'm a senior in high school. Anyone have any recommendations for a good school for engineering in the US that doesn't suck? I want to get out of New York.

My fall break isn't too far behind, my last class is on Wednesday, then I'll be off Thursday and Friday. Not the best break ever, but it does make a rather nice, long weekend.

Honestly, this is usually a perfect evening for me, hanging out in the dorm room with a few good friends. I remember sometime closer to the beginning of Freshman year, I went to visit a few friends, and we just sat there in the room, throwing a ball in the air and hitting it back and forth. It sounds kind of stupid, but getting retardedly fun things like that going on with a few friends can be pretty great.

Just hanging out with friends and not really doing anything is surprisingly fun. I think today my friends and I are going out to get food but we're going to bring it back to our dorm and have a mini movie night. It should be fun. :]

I passed my latest test and I don't know why. About everything I wrote was absolute shit, but I still passed. This means I only have to pass about 4 more exams (three of them are oral exams) and of course I have to pass my degree dissertation, but then I am finally done with university! WOOHOOOO!

Went to a football game with one of my best friends today. He's not going to school with me and I haven't seen him in a while, so it was nice to catch up with him. My school's football team also won today, so that was nice. It's days like today that make it so that I can really enjoy college life and the freedom it can give you.

This semester is flying by. Next week will be the 6th week, which is the half way point as far as lectures go. After those 6 weeks I have 3 exams and then it's Christmas already. It's crazy haw fast university goes by when compared to school, but I suppose I only spend half of the year in education now.

I didn't really get on with all the guys in my halls. I chatted to one of them who I'll say hi to if I meet him in the pub, but that's it. All my friends I made through my course/friends of friends/etc

I was the same. There wasn't a single person in my halls that I'd particularly say I was friends with or even knew all that well at all. There was one guy that I'd stop and talk with if we bumped into each other but the rest I'd just generally ignore. They didn't seem like my kind of people. Almost like middle class chavs in some cases.

Aside from the fact that I have to go back a day earlier than I hoped, due to the fact that it saves me $300 on air travel.

Back into lectures starting tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Have 5 hours with no breaks on Tuesday.

Are any of you in frats? (I'm a sophomore in high school right now, not in college.) And if so, did you have to do anything to get in?

I don't get any October holidays :( I suppose we make up for that be getting a near 6 month long summer break though.

freshman here, i'm loving the college life so far. i was just wondering, what are some ways you guys are making some cash on the side? i'm going to a very expensive school, i have maxed out financial aid, and i'm currently holding two work-study jobs. is there anything else i could be doing to make some more money for my tuition/expenses?

I didn't even know such a thing existed. It does sound awesome though. When I stayed on campus there was a place that sold some of the best pizzas I've ever eaten about 50 meters from my front door.
