OTG: Lonnie Vs. Draco (Final Push Challenge Submission)

My submission for the Final Push Challenge!

OTG = "Off The Grid"; I drew all the notes and MIDI data in my software without using the grid snap feature.

The song format:

0:00-0:10: boss battle intro

0:10-1:47: boss battle on loop

1:47-2:12: victory

2:12-end: ending/epilogue

For those who don't know, here's the summary of the challenge I created this for:

"Create melodic medleys that might play as a character is fighting a final boss battle using all the skills learned from their friends throughout the game, or maybe during an epilogue scene after a character reaches their destination and reflects on all the places they had to travel through to get there."

In my case I did the former, plus the theoretical end scene to this fake game.

Speaking of which, here's some background on the game concept I came up with:

In the peaceful small town of Timberwood, a timid boy named Lonnie wakes up one day to find his roommate and only friend is missing. He can’t find her anywhere in town, which also seems to be strangely empty. After looking around town, he heads back to his house and finds a note on the door he didn’t see before with the phrase, “Help me!” written on it, in blood. Startled, Lonnie begins to panic. Then he notices something on the back of the note, with unusual and eerie lettering saying “If you want to see your friend again, Come find me… - Lord Draco”. And so begins Lonnie’s adventure to find those missing from his town, and especially, his childhood friend, Melanie. Being a shy boy who doesn’t speak well with others, Lonnie will have to overcome many trials and fears, meeting enemies as well as future companions. How will he do?

For context, these are the links to the themes I created to be a part of the challenge submission:

OTG: Lord Draco's Evil (Challenge WIP)

OTG: Melanie’s Warmth (Challenge WIP)

OTG: Lonnie's Courage (Challenge WIP)

OTG: Timberwood (Challenge WIP)

This is a playlist I created with these themes (and maybe more, if I end up creating other themes): VGM 2020 Challenge

I actually had other characters and locations I made up for this challenge. If you are interested in learning about them, have a look here: https://codefreq.newgrounds.com/news/post/1136567

**Side note: I captured my computer screen while creating this piece with the intent of making it into a YouTube video for my channel (something akin to speedpaint YouTube videos). I will update this description again with a link to that video when it has been made public. In the mean time, you can check out my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc8KSSTFLmcls2pQEgCiyDw

I hope you enjoy! :D

***UPDATE: I just posted the YouTube video mentioned above. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwqJMxQZ8RQ

The tension is palpable and the drops makes me feel like the boss might actually be something that's within me and phasing in and out of attack range. The music box sound give me feeling of madness, it fits perfectly in a boss scene.

No words, just intense orchestra

Okay, I'll give more: this song has WIDTH (seriously, usually I'd be against drums with so much stereo... but it just works for this song)
