This one sounds more light-hearted than the other songs I listened to on this profile, but I like it. It also sounds like it would fit in with the lore of Newgrounds greats like Pico.

Here's to another Frenchcore etude. Unfortunately, this one isn't as groundbreaking as the first one—these are merely tests, studies after all. This experiment is dedicated to the subject of pitching kicks, much in the line of recent euphoric artists like Sefa!
While I do own a couple of premium wares like FL, the plugin Nimble Kick is not one of them, so I had to resort to other means. My main dilemma was pitching these kicks such that they would retain their timbre, as simply using the pitch/stretch sample functions in FL Studio tended to produce some... less than ideal results.
One such solution was employed in this track, and I plan to use it for future releases involving melodic kicks. First, I created two separate "kicks": one for the head, and one for the tail. With the exception of the head I refrained from using any amplitude modulation (e.g. to create the syncopated bass). I then loaded both samples into 2 separate DirectWaves, anchoring the sample to a certain key to enable pitch functionality. I then continued with basic processing to complete the kick—automating tail volume, separating the sub, etc.
I also used this as an opportunity to improve my transition design, and I had quite the fun developing and selecting the many sounds I used for the buildups in my drop!
Anyways, without further ado, enjoy this petite delight of a track!

cool idea, i imagine this concept could be useful for hardcore producers who want to give their kicks a melodic edge. i've never dealt with this issue myself, because anytime i make hardcore, i always play my kicks from a synth in real time
play my kicks from a synth in real time
That's actually been my dilemma: since I EQ my kicks pretty heavily during processing, including using some pretty tight notches, the question is how to maintain the same sound in different keys without sampling—if that is even possible?
