Sometimes, as a creator of any kind of content, you find that something you make really vibes with you. You're proud of all of your work, but sometimes there's that one work that just really makes you stop and say, "This one is special."
For me, "And For Us All" is one of those. I released Retro Revive back in 2016, a collection of 8-bit and 16-bit tracks, but of all of the tracks on that album, when I first made "And For Us All", it was special. Most of its instruments came from the Mega Man Battle Network 3 soundfont (one of my favorite games), and something about the overall sound, the melody, and just the feel of the song resonated with me.
So, on Discord yesterday with a music buddy, I happened to send over the track so we could reminisce together. He mentioned making a remix of it, and that kind of struck me. I thought, "Wait... It just doesn't feel right for me to love this track so much and just let someone else make an updated version of it... unless I do it first!"
And that's where this version came from. It uses a good number of the original instruments, as well as some synths from some resource packs for FL Studio's Harmless, some percussion resources, Magical 8 Bit 2, and FamiSynth. While the original will always hold its special place in my heart, I feel like this mix does service to the original, but also brings it into a new place that I love. I hope you enjoy it!
