Ooh, the good old standard drama chords, Interstellar-y.
I like the ideas going on here. Would probably pan the percussion out and ensemble it. Most of the track sounds a bit centered and flat without it. Those ascending arps could probably be autopanned say 33% right and left on a quarternote basis, with a pingpong delay for good measure.
The piece doesn't really feel to move anywhere beyond 2:53 so far, just to gradually be calming down from that high. Maybe take some lead writing study. You may find the videos of Signals Music Studios to be inspirational.
Mix wise, I find the percussion could be a lot more in your face, compressed. Bass could probably come up. Strings could go down half a dB and be brought in a bit more subtly. I find myself wanting a brass or low saw just holding out the bass note of each chord on a big swell, I would have introduced that before 1:38's horns came in. Those I also would want doubled in each channel so it didn't sound like only one voice.
But other than that, fun piece. Enjoyed the listen.
Thanks for coming out to NGUAC!
