I wanted to do something with guitar and wanted to try and make something 'epic' too as I haven't really tried to combine the two very often.
So i imagined that the airship was going on its last journey but that it would end up in its final battle too, and I wanted to incorporate an ebb and flow of the journey or battle, where the ship is hiding from another combatant in a cloud at one point, then battle commences, or there is a moment of calm followed by chaos.
I tried to use some sound design elements as percussion later on as it's not something I've really explored.
I also wanted to make it a whole world of the ship, so there are instruments that are part of that world. I also wanted to have some militaristic style instrumentation, so there's a pipe and lots of snares and military type drums. Some of the pomp and grandeur of it all.
I also thought that the piece might be acting as the story of the last journey, so at the end it seems as if there's triumph, but then... is that what happened? Maybe there was no glory to be had.
Bit late here, so I'm all garbled, and can't remember what else I was going to say. Ah well, ran out of time, but had fun with it anyhoo. I was also trying to get close to 6 mins, just cos it seems a weird length...
